I have a emachines T5640 its only about 6 months old, when all of a sudden there is no image on screen or power being outputted to the keyboard, mouse, etc. was told it was a mobo malfunction but i changed it and still same problem, no power is being out putted, also changed the power supply to an expensive 500watt one, still no success... is there anyone who can help me with this problem?
A few possibilities(the only problem is if you never get any display to try many of these suggestions): -Suspend. With suspend, everything is put to RAM and the computer goes to low power state, shutting off USB, HD, and most other things, but the PSU is still on so the fans keep spinning. All it takes to wake it up is either a punch on the keyboard (that is still active) or tapping the power button again. I saw a computer act like that once except it wasn't really in suspend. It had basically half-crashed, half shut down. r-emove "extra" components that are not needed for the computer to run. Like Sound cards etc, leaving only the essential components in and see if this fixes it. -Possibly, one of your attached devices is telling the PC to hibernate/shut down, but it's not happening correctly. If you go into Device Manager and look at the properties of most devices like NIC, soundcard, etc, you'll see a checkbox for "Allow this device to wake computer up/put it to sleep" etc. Check that out. -Violent spyware/viruses can also cause these symptoms. -ACPI, incorrectly implemented at the BIOS level, will not wake from suspend correctly. You would flash your BIOS to the latest version, and then in the power settings in BIOS and in XP, turn off power management (while on AC in XP). If the BIOS does not correctly detect keyboard or mouse wakeup, it will not and appear as it is. A telltale for lockup (bypassing keyboard/mouse) is if the system does not respond to the power switch. The power switch also is tied into ACPI. A push of the power switch also send a wakeup or suspend/off message. By holding the power switch for 5 seconds, the off is forced through the BIOS (and that is a surer sign that it locked up.) -A faulty HDD might not wakeup also (ignores or does not get the start signal). -Also, it is not recommended that you "turn off" ACPI. ACPI APIC adds the benefit of better IRQ handling. If you really can force ACPI "off", you may run into more frequent issues with IRQ conflict resolution (does not mean they will happen, just increases the chances.) -could be a defective RAM stick, if you get a good one, and replace it one by one with yours, you might find one that when replaced takes away the problem. or run memtest86, or Prime95(on testing - memtest tests ram, prime95 will test cpu/fsb, futuremark will test video,everest can see mobo temps/voltages in windows, a digital multimeter will test a power supply for voltages but it is not 100% accurate because these can change under full load) -Could be caused by Java issue with Azureus, a bit torrent client. -Do you have an nvidia card? newer nvidia drivers have issues with java. Try This: 1. Start->Control Panel->System 2. Click the Advanced Tab 3. Click the Environment Variables button 4. Click the New button 5. For Variable name:_JAVA_OPTIONS 6. For Variable value:-Dsun.java2d.d3d=false That solves a lot of problems with java it seems, by making it simply not use direct3d for everything. -updating your motherboard's bios. -Bad PSU, try switching. -mobo grounding out. 1. Remove all unnecesary components from mobo, then take it out, leaving it still hooked up to the power source and monitor 2. set mobo on floor, 3. try booting up 4. what happens now? -Bad mobo DIMM slots. -It could be something basic including a device driver. Check your eventvwr 's system log and see if the stop was listed. It should at least list the stop number. I hope something here will clue you on the way to solve your problem, good luck!
COMPUTER COMES ON, BUT THERE IS JUST A BLACK SCREEN, SAYING NO SIGNAL. CHANGED OUT VIEDO CARD, BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. CAN YOU HELP ME OUT.

MOST IMPORTANT: Always disconnect power before troubleshooting...
My thoughts...Consider this a hardware issue first, then software and settings issue. Could be bent or loose power or video connection(s), incorrect BIOS settings, computer device driver conflicts, a bad keyboard, bad mouse, incorrect display driver or damaged video card, incorrect memory chip(s), old CPU fan malfunction, possible heat issue, damaged memory slot pin contact(s), and/or currupt registry/system files.
First, temporarily disconnect or replace the follow items for test..1) Keyboard and Mouse (replace)
2) Monitor (replace)
3) Disconnect CDRom power connectors
4) Remove Network Card(s)
5) Remove Modem(s)
* - #3, 4 and 5 requires opening PC case.
Proceed...
1) Remove all memory chips except slot 1.
2) If beeps on startup, check Mobo manual for slot requirement(s) or replace chip.
3) Reinstall/secure Video Card
4) Resecure power connectors (all devices)
5) Check MoBo mounting screws (secure)
6) Check MoBo nickle battery is secure
7) disconnect Case or Tower Fan (if exists)
(Check BIOS for correct settings!)
Attach power cord and start computer.
If error still - exists check for software issue(s)...
8) Start computer into SAFE MODE (F8)
9) Check Device Manager in Control Panel and 'Disable' red or yellow error blips. Save settings...
10) Shutdown, then restart computer.
11) System should install missing devices
If not, install any missing drivers. See MFR's website for details.
12) Reset Power Management Schemes in Control Panel to 'ALWAYS ON'. Shutdown PC.
13) Shutdown then restart computer..
If problem still exists...
If problem still exists, check system for viruses in BIOS and/or system files and replace.

which is if (screen stay black and the system makes a beeping sound) thats mean u have a bad ram so try changing it.

If you took the pc in to a repair shop and they diagnosed that as the problem. You will have to install the new vieo adapter in the computer. Then plug in the monitor to see something on the screen. You can go into the bios to disable the other. Now if you are going by hear say and an actual tech did not check your system it does not necessarily have to be the video adapter at fault. You will need to have it checked out to validate that. Now if you did install the card you will have to plug the monitor in the new adapter. If the problem is still there you have another issue with the pc. Please comment on what the case may be. I would be able to better help you. Hope this helps you

Nope, if the fan on any of the equipment stops, then its a power problem. Hightly suspect the motherboard is at fault loading down the power supply and even possibly burning out the power supply. I've seen it happen to many times.

Check the power connection physically make sure that it is connected properly, try other power outlets, if still nothing happen? the problem is on the power supply of the computer, you might replace it. it think there's no switch on the mother board.

Model #GT5228, no power to keyboard or mouse. Already spent $60 for 30 min of support from Gateway to be told I needed a video card. Purchased a new video card and still have the same problem. I was now told it could be my Motherboard, which was replaced about a year ago and I just found out has only 90 days warranty.
