Hello. Check all of the buttons on your unit to make sure that they are not stuck...you can feel the click they make as you push it then they pop back out as your finger pulls off. Any stuck button will lock up your microprocessor and keep the unit from turning on. All other problems will require a consumer electronics technician to trouble-shoot the turn on circuit. If you know how to use a meter and know how to solder\unsolder and require further assistance you can contact me. Good luck.

Onkyo sr600 memory problem

I had the same problem with my TX-SR601 receiver.
Solution: I changed the capacitor C766 (100uF/6,3V) on the "DSP and main microprocessor" or "U1" board. This capacitor is responsible to keep the settings in the memory. It is directly next to the SRAM ICs (Q705-706) (type: CY7C1019BV/CV33-15VCT).
Now the receiver works properly again.

Message states the power to zone 2 is not activated when trying to listen to zone 2 speakers. Nothing in my manual about this message. How do I activate power to zone 2 on a tx-sr601

Page 77:

"Not available in Zone 2 mode" Setting not allowed because the Zone 2 mode is turned on.

"Zone 2 is not On" Will not work because the Zone 2 has not been turned on.

TURN ZONE 2 ON.

Page 55 shows the prerequisite settings for using the surround back terminals for Zone 2.

Page 60 describes USING Zone 2 and points out that only analog sources can be used with Zone 2. Are you trying to use digital sources? Read the notes regarding REC OUT.

This site said it was free - then there is a charge? I am getting a "Protecting" message when I turn on my receiver - then it shuts off....What does this mean and what should I do?

It means the receiver senses excessive heat, or a short at its outputs. Disconnect the speaker wires and see if that helps. If not, get it to a Tech. If it turns on, figure out which speaker path(s) was causing the problem and resolve it.

The manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Onkyo-TX-SR601-Receivers-manual/id/365ag212/t/2/

Power shuts off immediately after power on.

• Amplifier protection circuitry is activated. Remove the power cord from the outlet immediately. Contact your Onkyo service center.

It will work with any Line Level input. The Front Panel Video 4 Input looks convenient.

More watts needed

Add another power amp to line outs from your main amp to your speakers this will give more power(current) to your main speakers as you have decreased load on main amp
