We have recently gotten the above fridge freezer "repaired". We had ice build up which was blocking cold air flow to the fridge. Once the engineer plugged it back in, it seems to be working fine after 24 hours, but the three indicators are still flashing (super cool - power - super freeze) at the top of the unit.
How can this be reset so they work properly?
I have just fixed my fridge freezer by following the instruction from KarenBa and GWoman i have also managed to stop the lights (super cool and super freeze) from flashing by turning the temperature to zero on both fridge and freezer so they turn off then holding both super buttons down for about 15 seconds then turning the temperature back up. hope this helps
OOOOhhhhh thank you - this worked for me. I defrosted the freezer and when turned back on the lights were flashing - turned the temperature to zero on both fridge and freezer so they turned off - then held both super buttons down for about 15 seconds - there was a click and the lights stopped flashing - I then turned the temperature back up. Hotpoint wanted to send an engineer out to fix it!!!!
This worked for me too - grateful for everyone who posted their solutions and saved us all a lot of money!!
Thank you so much!! This worked for me too.

Hi, I've just fixed this I think! it started making a noise then stopped then the fridge got really warm. In the freezer compartment unscrew the white cover, behind there I found the fan had got ice all around it and ice over a sensor, I have defrosted it and plugged it back in and it is cold again. However the super cool and super freeze are still flashing after several hours, but it is now cold. Better than paying Hotpoint £160 to fix it!
Thanks to this site and previous writers - my fridge freezer is working fine now.
My freezer was working normally but the fridge did not at all.I opened the back of the freezer section to reveal the filament all iced up as previously recommended ( many thanks) -rememeber there are 2 white covers to remove. PlEASE DO NOT chip away the ice as you will accidently chip the metal and break the filament . I did that once with another freezer and gas came out and therefore broke it- be patient and safer and use a hair dryer.
I am month 8 of 12 month warranty- should i contact hotpoint and complain what seems like a design fault? i would recommend feedback.
What KarenBa said works!!! We actually did end up paying Hotpoint to come out and sort this (£100). The man did exactly what she describes, opens up the white panel behind the freezer drawers and chipped away at the ice. However, just before he left (and at this point I was feeling extremely p-d off as I had basically forked out £100 for a man to chip away at ice for 15 minutes) I checked my "super-cool lights" (which were not working) - luckily, he looked into this in more detail and my "sensor panel" was broken - which he replaced. So my recommendation to anyone that has the fridge warm, but the freezer is working ok, is to take off the panel, chip away at the ice first, and then if it still doesn't work - you will need a new sensor panel - otherwise it is defintately worth trying this solution yourself, and certainly a lot cheaper than Hotpoint!!!!!! Good luck!
Solution #2 helped my lights have all stopped flashing the fridge and freezer is working at the correct temp. thanks for the help
After following the above solutions i have fixed my problem. I am very greatful to the people who have posted these helpful tips.
Mr Bee
I found this place by chance the night before the hotpoint guy was going to rip me off!!!!! i sat up till 2 in the morning trying to rush defrost the freezer & then turned it back on when i was off to work. After a couple of hours everything was great & i cancelled the engineer & my direct debit for the £160 they were going to charge me (phew!!)
Ive got a good mind to email watchdog about this scam
thanks peeps
I found before calling an engineer tack the drawers out of the freezer knock it off and put a bucket of hot water in with the door closed for half an hour dry it all with a towel then switch back on worked for me
There has only been a biuld up of Ice because the drain hole is blocked once you have unscrewed the back piece and cleared the ice unblock the drain or over time it will re-occur also unplug the fridge before you start
I paid hotpoint to repair previously and they did this and the same issue happened a year later, dDd it myself this time and had the same problem with lights, fixed after searching and finding this solution., thanks

Usually answered in minutes!
just repaired 3 lights flashing
I have the same problem. I bought the freezer three months ago, I accidentally dropped the second shelf down 2 days ago and ordered a new draw two days ago.
Not sure if it's coincidental or what but the lights have all started flashing and I hear an intermittent noise like something falling in the freezer like ice. I have tried turning the freezer off and on again but still the same. I
will call the hotline tomorrow.
i have the same problem.
"mt ff187e hotpoint fridge wont go cold. both super cool lights are onbut not flashing,if i turn it off then back on it works for 2mins thenstops.there is no ice built up... help please"
The freezer is working fine (so there is power going to the appliance), but the fridge part has no light, and is not cold. The Supercool button for the fridge does not work either. Can anyone help?
My problem are the 3 lights flashing! , The fridge freezer is new, only a week old and I'm stills stocking it. I can't find the manual that came with it so cannot check why I have these lights flashing. Please help, live in a studion flat and at night it's like a disco in the kitchen/diner!
God hotpoint are B&%$££ds!!! We had this problem, and yes got someone out who charged £100 to chip away at ice...grrrr. He told me that this was a fault on this model, and all of the appliances require 'fixing' in this way due to ice build up over the heater (because the heater was designed to be placed in a really stupid spot basically ) anyway, after hearing this we refused to pay - i think they got £33 out of us and we disputed the rest. It just happened again and I told my other half what the engineer had done which he repeated- worked like a charm, all fixed no stupid call out fee. It's really bad hotpoint are making money for their own design fault problem. Our fridge was flashing as detailed by others and the turning on/off and holding down the supercool buttons worked yay!
i am just in the middle of mine, i have an engineer coming tuesday, they got me to take out insurance at 12.99 a month for 10 months.. this covers me for this repair and up to a year. thye first tried charging me 15.99 a month. i think i will email them and complain. A working fridge is important to me as i keep insulin in it one of the reasons i went for hotpoint.
Had the problem of ice build up.followed instructions as below thanks to Robbin thoma.
Worked for me. Thank you.
