Played French movie on region-free player and American movies won't work

Ever since I played a French, region 2, movie on my DVD player all my American movies won't play and I get a 'no signal' message. I'm still able to play the French movie and the DVD player setup says it is region-free (region 0).

DVD region code was designed for movie studios to control the release plan for different regions across the world. Different regions have different region code so that the DVD you buy from one region cannot be played on the DVD player that has a different region code. Basically, what it means is that you can only watch the DVD in your own region, and it's not allowed by the movie studio for you to watch any DVD that is from other regions.

You can use some DVD copy tools to get a DVD copy program without region code but with same content. You can try Leawo DVD Copy to get a dvd copy but with the original quality retained.

My ps3 plays games but will not play blu ray movie

You can try clear your movie data from the discs you\'ve played (according to Fox that\'s sometimes the culprit when a disc won\'t even load): restart your PS3 and go to the video menu and scroll up to the BluRay Data section. Go into it and check that it has saved some info for your movies. Now deleted all the data in this folder except the shared data crap, and hopefully your movies start perfectly!!

If that fails try the following:

In the XMB(menus) go to Settings ---> BD/DVD Settings ---> BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI). Turn that off. This has also been known to work.

Have an LG BH7520 player and cant play my region 2 dvd movies

With your set on and without disc in the tray:

1. Press PLAY from your remote control
2. Press the following button sequence: 1590 2379 390
3. Press PLAY again

This will release the region verification in your player(region free). However, some DVDs (multi region in particular) will not play, since they require region detection from the player unit.

Why Philips dvd player won't play all dvd movies?

This is not a fault. Some movie burned formats might not support the player.

I played some bootleg movies. And now my Sony DVD player (model DVPSR500H). Will not play Retail DVD's. What can I do? I tryed unpluging it. And that did re-set it.

Your DVD player is now locked to the region of your bootleg movies! Sony only allows a certain number of changes before it becomes locked to the 'chosen' most played regio.

You need to make your Sony DVP SR500H 'Region Free'. Try the following:

1) Switch on player
2) Open DVD/CD tray compartment
3) Using the remote controller, enter 2812
4) Press 9 on key pad (to make it multi region) and then enter or Nav Ctr button
5) Press CLEAR to exit

Good luck.

New DVD won't play.

Check the region code on the DVD player. Your other DVD player may not be sensitive to region codes (i.e. plays all regions).

I bought a DVD and I played it on my laptop. It worked on the laptop but when i put it into the DVD player it wouldn't play. So I tryed playing the DVD in the PC and it also worked on there. Again I...

DVD movies have region codes, and they typically only play on a player or DVD-ROM drive sold in the country where the DVD movie was sold.

The actual region code is in one byte on the DVD (digital versatile disc). The DVD player or drive has a region code in its firmware. Personal computer DVD-ROM players often have the code in the software or MPEG-2 decoder. The two codes must match for the player or drive to play the movie. The code is also printed on the back of a DVD package, superimposed on a small image of the globe.

DVD regional locking is used to control which DVD movies play in which countries or groups of countries. Movies are often released on different dates around the world. Region 1 has its own player that will only play Region 1 discs. Likewise, Region 2 players can only play Region 2 discs and not play any of Region 1's discs. The six codes are:
  1. United States and Canada
  2. Europe and Japan
  3. Southeast Asia
  4. Latin America and Australia
  5. Russia, rest of Asia and Africa
  6. China
please check the DVD region code again and what PLAYER u are using to play on PC / LAPTOP??

where did you buy the DVD player??
