Omega 4000 jucier. has a broken latch arm. I have a replacement for it.
How do I take off the old one and put on the new one? (without beraking anything)
I WOULD CALL OMEGA AT 717 561 1105. I REPLACED ONE ON AN OMEGA 1000 BY REMOVING BOTTOM OF JUICER TO VIEW LATCH ARM WHERE IT ATTACHES FROM INSIDE THE HOUSING. YOU CAN FIGURE IT OUT. IT HAS TO BE PRIED A LITTLE AND SLIPPED UP AND OUT.

Believe it can be done. You might have to file or shave the new arm a little then seat it as best as possible and tap it in place with a screw driver and hammer. If you do manage to attach the new arm and the fit is a little too snug when you latch down the cover, file the upper tip of the arm for a little more tolerance. Also, believe it or not, a worn blade will produce less vibration. There is a set screw bottom center. With the juicer fully assembled, unlock it, turn it clockwise until feed chute contacts the shredder blade and back it off a half turn. You now have the proper gap between the chute and blade.
It's a real pain and even bigger pain to snap the new one in place. Best way to do it is remove the 4 screws, not the center one, and separate the base. You will then have access to the latch arm from within, but remember how everything goes back together again.
They break. The latch arm is one piece, spring and all. So if any part of it is still in the juicer it's broken. Order a pair from Omega and have them walk you through replacing them.
Omega can walk you through it, but have a file handy because the new latch arms are not a perfect fit for the older juicers. You might want to remove the 4 screws on the bottom to separate the base for better access. If you have a little mechanical ability it can be done, if not it could get tense.
First thing to do is call Omega and order a pair at 1 800 633 3461 and also ask them for tips on how to remove and install the arm. If your juicer is older the new arms may not be an exact fit, and you will have to do a little filing and improvising to install them. Its helpful to remove the 4 screws on the bottom to separate the base for better access and view of the situation.
There are no instructions. Call Omega 1 800 633 33461 for advice. Also new arms on an older juicer may not be an exact fit so you might have to do a little filing down on the arm to get it to fit. You can remove the 4 screws on the bottom to separate the base and get a clearer picture of what you have to do. Basically you have to pry the base of the arm away and push up to remove it. If you're not handy you may need some help cause it gets tricky.
IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE LATCH ARM, YOU CAN BUY THEM FROM OMEGA AT 717 561 1105. TRICKY TO REPLACE. I REMOVED THE BOTTOM OF THE MACHINE AND GAINED ACCESS THAT WAY. ONCE YOU SEE THE LATCH ARM SUPPORT PRY IT AWAY FROM THE JUICER AND SLIDE IT OUT. CALL OMEGA THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO REPLACE THE LATCH.
Getting the old one out is the hardest part if the arm was broken off like mine. First locate the rectangular part where the arm attaches to the case. If the old arm, or most of it, is still attached, grasp it and pull firmly away from the case until you hear a click. Then, still pulling it away from the case, push it up toward the top of the case until it slides out. If the arm is broken off you have to pry it from the top until you hear the click. I used a small paring knife. Once you get it this far, wedge something like a toothpick behind it to keep it pulled away from the case. Then you need to push this push this part up. It is pretty tight so you might want to use some type of tool, like the blade of a flat screwdriver. Once you get the old one out, putting the new on in is just the reverse of taking the old one out.
LOOK UNDER WHERE YOU PUSH DOWN ON THE LATCH ARMS TO SECURE THE LID. ONE ONE SIDE THERE MAY BE A SMALL INTERLOCKING SWITCH WHICH WOULD PREVENT THE JUICER FROM RUNNING WITHOUT THE COVER LOCKED DOWN. USE A SMALL SCREW DRIVE TO CORRECT IF MISALIGNED. THE JUICER ALSO COMES WITH A 15 YEAR WARRANTY, SO OMEGA WILL FIX FOR FREE.
