I have a Philips Magnavox TS2746C221 TV. I have suddenly lost the sound. I have tried hooking up another TV to the cable and that seems to be working. The picture is fine and everything else seems to be working. I read your solution mentioning the SAP setting. What is that? I have disconnected the audio connection to my DVD, but still no sound. Do you have any other suggestions?
I did not answer the original question you posed but the SAP is the acronym for Separate Audio Program and is used to provide spanish for instance on a show which is broadcast in both english and spanish. The problem is not all stations have audio on the SAP. If your audio processor is set to SAP and you switch to a channel which has nothing on SAP you loose audio. I'm guessing someone suggested this prior to this post. If you checked your TV and it is not on SAP that eliminates that. I would look at the audio circuit for problems. Either no power to the audion circuit, bad solder joints, blown output IC or possibly a blown speaker. I know the last one is remote but it does happen and it never hurts to check the simple problems first. Besides you aren't embarrassed later when you find out it was something simple. If you are going to check these issues out remember safety. Good luck.

Check what type of Audio input it has on it. It should either have an Optical Audio input(glowing red while unit is turned on) or an Audio input(red and white jacks) You would run the correct cable fromthe Audio Output on your tv,To the Audio Input on your surround sound reciever. Let me know if this helps solve your problem.
If you remove the back , you fond a couple of electrolytic caps that might be bulged and need to be replace. You can also just buy a new power supply and that wold take care of our problerm..
1. Does your TV has an Audio OUT? If it does then connect the TV audio out to your Home Theater system's Audio In.
2. Are you using Cable box? If you do then connect the Audio out of your Cable box to the Audio In of your Home Theater system. video out of your cable box to the video in of your TV.
I had dish satelight install on my TV. It worked well for two days, then the picture started showing in a square box. I ffixed the convergence and it seemed okay. The next day I turned on the tv and it had sound, but no picture. When I press the status button, the picture would come on then go right back out. Now I don't have any sound or picture. Download MRD-210 User Manual as it might help you to hook up video cables properly. Connections between Tv and Homer theater is not proper in your case.
On the remote ther is a tv/av button. Turn the DVD on and press play and the press that buttom on the tv remote and you will see your dvd playing. Have a good day.
no i havent a solution yet. am waiting to hear from Philips support & Customer Care by email or phone. I cannot afford to pay you people just to ask a question that i probably could not understand the answer anyway. I know my tv just stopped working and I think it was the manufacturers problem. Like i said it was not an old tv.
your set has a coaxal DIGITAL output so you must have a coaxal digital input to your reciever and that input must be assighned in the reciever to the selected input. page 10 of your manual explains how to hook up to the tv. your receiver's manual will tell you how to assighn the coax input.
