First thing is to remove the 2 screws from the console, they may be hidden in the front or bacl of console. After removing screws, lightly push the base of the console towards the front of the washer and pick up. This will expose your lid switch connection. Using a jumper wire, jump out the black and white wires then try advancing your washer into spin/drain. The culprit will usually be the lid switch assy.

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 70 Washing Machine - won't drain water

look at the bottom of the control panel on the end caps and back out the two screws then pull the control panel slightly forward and tilt it back then you should see gray wires either going in the body of the washer or to a switch on the left side un plug the harness and put a jumper wire across the connector going to the control panel then try spin

SOURCE: Why My Kenmore 70 Series Washer Won't Drain Or Spin?

You need to replace the lid switch. This is located under the case. you have to take the case off to change this part. This is done by taking the 2 screws out of the front of the control panel. Then flip the panel back and remove the 2 brass clips that hold on the case. Then you can remove the whole washer case to get acces to the lid switch. This is a very common problem and an easy problem to fix.

Kenmore Washer 70 series Model #110.22722100 won't spin

Check door switch: If the lid switch is bad it will not drain or spin. Try this test: With lid open let it finish wash cycle. Press lid switch down with screwdriver. Washer should begin draining. Release switch. Motor should stop. Press switch a second time. Washer should start spinning as it continues to drain. If motor doesn't come on while lid switch is pressed, replace the switch. OR

Hello, Have a Kenmore series 70 (capcity plus).

Note after reading a bunch of information. I went home and removed the hose from the Level Switch and "clean it", if you will and re-attached. Started a load, and bingo bango bongo, it work. Thanks for the insight.

Series 70 fills wit water stops then makes a slight buzzing sound

The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem? The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.

Water won't drain

This is usually caused by the lid safety switch. When the switch malfunctions, The washer believes the lid is open and the washer will not spin or empty. The switch is intended to prevent injury during the spin cycle. The timer could be bad but it is usually the switch..

Kenmore 70 series washer

to answer your first problem,

if it wont stop filling, then the pressure switch is either defective,
or the hose that is attached to the drum to the pressure switch was either pulled out or had an opening either it breaks or it cracks.

that would not transfer the filling mode to agitate mode.

the second problem that it wont drain and spin now is another issue but might be resolve if you solve the first problem.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
