USE LAPTOP ON TV & LAPTOP AT THE SAME TIME

Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor. Power up the external monotor first then boot up the laptop and the video will automatically switch to the external monitor.

i assume the TV has a VGA port (blue 15-pin) and that you're using a VGA cable.

the TV will usually have another A/V or input specifically for the VGA which can be called anything from "PC" to "other" make sure you've got that input selected

once you've got all that tell your PC to connect (button looks like a box with a line on each side) by pressing "fn" + "f4" if you have an HP...i think dell uses "fn" + "f8" i think Asus uses "fn" + "f5". (**usually if you press it once it will turn off your comp screen and transmit to tv, if you press a second time it will go back and if you press a third time it will tranmit to both at the same time)
if this is the first time you've connected your laptop to something it usually brings up a screen to configure some options like do you want to mirror the screen or use the tv as an extension of the screen.

Hi,

If your laptop has a s-video output you can get a s-video cable that goes from your laptop to your tv's AV input.
You then just have to activate the alternative display on your laptop to make it work if it doesn't detect it automatically. Hope this helps.

Yes there is a way to connect the laptop to the TV via VGA output. You can easily connect most of the laptops to TV via VGA and your notebook is fine for that purpose as well.

Hi i have only connected my laptop to the tv a few times. i did it through a scart lead connecting to the s-video-out socket on my laptop. then i when to display propertise , settings then selected screen 2, then extened to desktop monitor. it worked. i then opened a film in my player, dragged it accross, went full screen job done. hope this helps...

Assuming that you have hooked the cables right, you need to press the key combination Fn + F? to activate the external video output of the Toshiba laptop. The "?" would depend on the exact model of your Toshiba. Additionally, there would be a blue lettered indicator on one of the top keys of keyboard indicating a monitor.

Incidentally, it might be worth mentioning that most TV can not operate on too high a setting of the Resolution of your Display Properties and therefore would require that the laptop's Screen Resolution be lowered down when used in conjunction with an external display device such as a monitor. At other times, the Screen refresh Rates would need to be lowered down also.

You should go to toshibas site. And download the User Manual if possible. this will usually be in Adobe Acrobat format.
Some laptops ( Not all ) have a certain key for example F7 Or F8 that when you start your laptop. you can press fn And F7 To switch between lcd and vga. or fn And F8 LCD-TV.
Alternatively is to re-install your operating system and hopefully this should put the system back to it,s factory default values.
Finally is to enter the bios setup, and change the initial display settings in there.
