Do you have anti-virus installed? You may have a virus that prevents you from surfing the net.
Also check if you are getting an IP address. Go to start>run>type in cmd and press enter. On the command prompt(black screen) enter in ipconfig and see if you have a IP address

Hi, I am Steve, lets help solve your issue.
I am afraid the information you have been given is completely wrong. There is not such thing as plug and play in the android world. Android was initially developed for use on embedded devices and as such had no need to recognise external devices automatically. Version 2.1 (as installed on your device) is now quite old and cannot support it. Even the new version (froyo -2.2) does not support it.
Your device does come with a built in wireless adaptor, so you don't need a USB wireless adaptor.

these might be the initial stages of the re-flashing process ie:installing the OS or upgrading when you might connect a usb cable,im not familiar with your brand.

Hi!
In order for you to remove the password, you need to reset your wireless router. You didn't mention what brand and model of your router, but anyway all routers have a "reset button" just look for it on your router. It is usually found at the back of the router and it is very small, you need a pin or anything long and thin to insert into it in order to push it for about 10 seconds.
Thanks for using fixya!
