Kenmore 417.43042200 Front load washer. Replace shock absorbers and coin trap

Replacing shock absorbers and coin trap, front load washer. I have Eco Care 417.43042200. It started putting a lot of water on the floor, and I eventually found a hole in the coin trap. I also noticed that one of the shock absorbers near the coin trap is broken off the mounting. I figure the extra bouncing probably caused the coin trap to wear out. I get the parts on Wednesday. Do you have any suggestion, warnings, advice? Or even a good image that might help? Is it possible there might be something else that I should address at this time also? Thanks!

SOURCE: replacing shocks on front load washer

through the lower door panel in front of machine. Why???? is machine walking , bouncing or other wise?? This machine spins at HIGH Rpm's so most usual problem is one leg maybe unlevel or possible wood floor maybe "giving " as machine spins and allowing the machine to walk...but then again if machine is "old" shocks could be worn out

SOURCE: Where is coin trap in Kenmore front load washer

If you experience a problem where the washer does not drain properly or the drain pump makes excessive noise, here's the information you need to check the drain pump:

Symptom: PUMP IS RUNNING, BUT NOT DRAINING PROPERLY.

1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
5. Here's a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don't own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there's nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT - DO NOT FORGET!).
9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console - DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). "C00" will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
12. If the drain pump works normal and there are no leaks detected, reinstall the bottom panel and tighten screws.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

How to replace the drain motor

try checking the filter or coin trap before you try to replace the pump. on an LG replacing involves removing the front of the machine, pretty big job if you don't know how.

My washer is shaking alot and makes unreal noise. Like it is out of balance

On front load washers, it is very important that the washer be truly level and that all four (adjustable) feet are screwed down so the whole washer absolutely does not rock forward to back or side to side.
The floor needs to be solid and not "deflect" when you walk on it.
But if the above items do not solve the problem, then it is almost certain that one or both of the shock absorbers has broken. They can be seen under the wash tub but removing the front kick plate and looking in. They look like tiny car shock absorber / struts. Grab one and push / pull or run a load with the cover off and watch as the washer spins up.
The shocks are not incredibly hard to replace yourself if you are inclined and the instructions provided with the replacement parts are pretty clear.
There are other possible failures besides the shocks, including the upper springs and a failing main bearing, but that is rare on newer model washers.
Note that the most common cause of shock or spring failures is when the washer is relocated and the wash drum is not locked down per the instructions provided with the washer.
Please report back what you find, OK?

My Kenmore front load washer just bgan to goes out of balance

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

Machine won't spin

No reset but I would look for a wire that came unplugged when you were working on the shocks.

Broken shock absorbers on front loading Kenmore

Hi, first things first. Your model and serial numbers should be on a sticker somewhere around the door opening. Next check the tub. With your finger, push up on the rim of the tub then rotate the tub a few inches and push up again. Continue through a whole rotation. If the tub moves and make a clicking noise you have a bad drum bearing and the cost to repair is more than the unit is worth. If that's not an issue, then it's probably just the shocks, replacing them should solve the problem. Hope that helps.
