I had to hold Power for 10+ seconds (until last "F" flashes, quickly let go of Power, then press and hold it again and while holding it pres the light three times.

The process doesn't follow the manual's instructions at all.

Their older model units with the physical on/off/clean selector switch was much more reliable than their new 2160 with touch screen controls!

This worked exactly as stated. The trick was to get through the 10+ second reset before it let you push the light button three times.

I had the same problem. I finally had to enter the clean cycle with the unit powered on and displaying ICE, not "off" as the intrusions say to do.

Prints color badly won"t stay

Hi w0rtm,

To correct this issue you need to clean the print head. Please follow the steps below.

1. Press the "Power" button to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to fall silent, indicating it has finished all of its warm up.

2. Load letter size plain paper in the printer's input tray if none is present. Hold down the "Resume" button until the printer's power light flashes once, and then let go of the "Resume" button.

3. Wait for the printer's power light to stop flashing, indicating the printer has finished cleaning the print head. Print a nozzle check sheet by holding down the printer's "Resume" button until the power light flashes twice.

4. Examine the nozzle check printout, looking for missing or broken lines in any of the sections. If you see problems with the printout, run the printer's cleaning program again and then print another nozzle check pattern.

If this does not work, please try these.

1. Turn on the printer.

2. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer's desktop. Click "Control Panel." Choose "Printers and other Hardware." Select "Printers and Faxes."

3. Double-click the "Canon i550" icon. Click "File" in the main menu, scroll down and click "Printing Preferences." Hit the "Maintenance" tab.

4. Click the "Cleaning" button. Select "All colors" to be cleaned and click "Execute."

5. Click the "OK" button.

6. Print a sample page and examine whether the quality has improved.

7. If the quality has not improved, repeat Steps 2 and 3. Click the "Deep Cleaning" button this time. Select "All colors" to be cleaned and click "Execute." Click the "OK" button.

If still encountering the same issue, please uninstall and reinstall the unit's driver.

Hope it helps.

Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Press and hold the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL button for 3 seconds.
Kenmore Elite Washer - Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds.

In Hoover washing machine try holding down the temperature and eco/rapid options together to turn off child lock. Some series use "TEMP and OPTION" at the same time.

Error 5100. the ink cradle moves on start up, the ink cartridges are brand new. Won't print a thing... "Check Printer, Error 5100" Canon MX300. Used once.

You need to reset your printer to remove this error. But first, may I suggest that you remove first your ink cartridge. Clean the contact surface using a cotton bud moistened with alcohol. After cleaning return back the cartridge.

Follow these steps:
1. Turn off the printer
2. Press and hold down the Stop/Reset button and Power button for 5 seconds.
3. While holding the Power button, release the Stop/Reset button.
4. While still holding the Power button, press the Stop/Reset button twice
5. Release Power button (wait till you get the lights)
6. Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times each having a 3 seconds gap. (check whether you are getting the orange light or not)
7. Press the Power button and enter data.
8. Remove the cartridge. Leave it for 20 seconds
9. Press the Power button and shutdown printer.
10. Return cartridge and start the printer.
11. Set the language and country.

After the first reset procedure and there is still an error, do this 2nd reset.
When the error is displayed on the display panel of the printer, 1. Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button and wait until it self restart.
2. Release the STOP/RESET button so printer will completely restart. After this, your printer will print again.

Please give this solution a 4 thumbs up rating.

H owdo you clean the machine using the tablet ? Thanks

  1. Turn machine off.
  2. remove group head (portafilter)
  3. place single or dual cup filter in group head.
  4. place rubber bung in group head.
  5. place one tablet in space in bung.
  6. replace group head in machine.
  7. This is where the instructions lead you astray.
  8. DO NOT PRESS 1 & 2 CUP BUTTONS SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH POWER BUTTON.
  9. Press & hold 1 & 2 cup buttons simultaneously, on their own.
  10. Now press the power button while still holding the 1 & 2 cup buttons.
  11. Cleaning cycle will start, and will take around 5 mins to complete. Book says it will beep 3 times when finished haven't heard this yet. Just wait a couple of minutes extra and all should be well.
  12. Clean me light should be out and tablet disolved if not repeat steps again until tablet disolves.

Why flash by 5 times the orange led?

Probably your waste ink counter should be cleaned or replaced before resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER

0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.

This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

Good Luck, I hope this helps?!
