If you have already removed the outer washplate, the inner wash plate should just lift off the leveler and u-joint. The washplate dome refers to the center cone that fits on top of the outer wash plate. This piece comes off by inserting a screwdriver in the slots along the sides and gently prying to release the locking tabs. The mounting bolts that secure the outer wash plate also secure the inner wash plate to the u-joint assembly. There is a seal under the inner wash plate that may be holding it on. I don't know of anything else that would be holding it in place. Searspartsdirect.com has an excellent exploded view diagram of the wash plate and components that you may refer to provide you with a perspective on how everything fits together. I hope you find some of this information helpful. Please post back and let me know if you are still having problems.
PS You may have to resort to using a rubber mallet to lightly tap on the inner wash plate to knock it free.
I'm not sure about a hardware store. I know there are several good appliance repair websites that you can check for the availability of special tools required for repairs, though. I didn't know if you were willing to wait longer by having to order tools. You may also try any local appliance parts retailer to see if they carry anything in their inventory by way of special tools. Most do. If not, repairclinic.com and fixitnow.com come to mind as websites that have repair tool listings. I agree, that some manufacturers do not offer any advice or instructions on how to install parts.
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Glad you were able to resolve your washer problems.

Thanks for the quick reply... I didn't know that the whole tub came out as well. Printed all diagrams and didn't even open the manual they sent as it looked generic and some of the posts said it wasn't helpful. Now it's on to the spanner wrench everyon'es been talking about. Sears does a great job on giving you as little help as possible when ordering the parts. Can this be purchased at a hardware store?
Thanks for your help. It took alot of force and wd40. Got everything replaced and working except for the top. I can't get it back on at all. The clips on the side seem to be raised a good quarted of an inch. It's #2 on http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir...
Any tricks to getting the snaps on the side of the lid to snap back in place?
Problem solved. The tub was not fitted all the way down on the spindle correctly. Thanks again for your help.
