Kenmore Elite top load washer timer will not rotate by itself through the wash/rinse/spin cycles

Any clue as to why the switch will not rotate on the from cycle to cycle when activated. Gear stripped by chance?

Each portion of the wash/rinse/spin cycle work correctly, but you have to manually move the timer to each cycle.

Thanks.

Gkar06,
Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, Each portion of the wash/rinse/spin cycle work correctly, but you have to manually move the timer to each cycle.

This tells us the timer is bad and needs service to replace it!
You will be fine, it is not a big job!

If you like you can try this first!

Like with an error code.
This can reset the system if it is electronic!
Unplug the washer and wait a 5 minutes then restart it.
If you can't reach the plug, use the breakerto cut the power for 5 minutes.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects some error problems if they are not serious.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.
let me know how it works out.

How old is the appliance?

Let me know!

Kenore Elite Oasis top loading washer wont spin during the spin cycle, but will rotate during wash and rinse cycles

Hello,

Since the motor turns regadless of the direction it turns itself is good and theirfore the problem with your washer i believe is going to be the control board,it is what tells the motor what direction and what speed to turn.

My Kenmore washer won't advance through it's wash cycle

I just had the same problem and had to have it repaired. It was the "lid switch."

I have a Kenmore top loading washer model #110 and won't agitate

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.23912100

Also see the Whirlpool (Kenmore) Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

The first thing I'd try is using a different cycle. If the washer works as it should, the problem points to the timer.

I'd also check to make sure that when replacing the switch, the connections to the timer haven't come loose.

Since you've replaced the Lid Switch, the motor has power for the drain and spin cycles.

These washers use a reversing motor. The motor turns one way for agitating and reverses for the drain and spin.

Since you cannot hear anything when it is supposed to be agitating, the problem does point to the timer or motor.

The pressure switch is mis-reporting the water level to the ECU.

Test/replace the pressure switch.

While the washer drains and spins, new water comes in

Drain hose must be at least 30 inchs above the floor.

your washer is not agitating -
1. Check that water level switch works
2. Does it attempt to move when selected? Washer timer contacts may be burnt.
3. Your motor could be bad - washing spinning different ckts

Still confused ...

the timer should be moving by itself to rinse and spin and than finish the cycle
If your timer stop at rinse cycle you gonna need a lid switch.
Problaby your lid switch is broken

70 series Kenmore washer

POWERUP, YOUR WASHER COULD BE THE LID SWITCH OR THE COLD WATER VALVE. AT THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE, THE MOTOR WILL SPIN OUT THE WATER, BUT ONLY IF THE LID SWITCH IS ACTUATED. IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, IT WILL NOT SPIN OUT THE WATER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE FROM THAT POINT.
IF THE WASHER SPINS, THE NEXT STEP IS TO FILL WITH WATER FOR THE RINSE CYCLE. MOST WASHERS USE COLD WATER FOR RINSES. IF THE COLD WATER VALVE IS RESTRICTED OR FAULTY, THE WASHER WON'T FILL. IF THE WASHER WON'T FILL, THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH WON'T ACTIVATE AND THE TIMER WON'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP.
