The saddle valve is the part you hook up under your refrigerator water supply to a water line under kitchen sink and cold water side of the copper pipes. The saddel valve looks like the parts below in photo. And some call the dual water control valve a saddle valve. If you are having trouble withe the water control valve your model takes a part number=> 241734301 Tripple Water Inlet Valve

The Dual Water control or tripple water control is found on back of refrigerator and near floor and hiding behind a paper cover that closes the bottom of the refrigerator compressor. The saddle valve is the way to attach your refrigerators water supply with the water line in your home or business. Hope that explains better...Sea Breeze

Refrigerator freezes

Sounds like might be the Temperature Control Thermostat or some sensor in the circuitry telling the compressor and cooling parts to keep running because it thinks it isn't cold enough. There is probably a circulation fan to blow the cold air through the damper and it may not shut off either, conveying too much cold thermal conduction through ducting and all frig parts, regardless of damper being closed or open. With the temperature set on low, do the compressor and fans ever shut off once cold temperatures are attained? Freezer should be 0 or lower, frig 35-40.

I saw your response to another Kenmore frig and I have a similar problem I want to ask you about. I have a Side-by-side Kenmore frig(model 106.9555722) that we've had for 16 years!! Other than r

I have seen this one other time in all my years of appliance repair and changing out the "water inlet valve" corrected the problem. I don't have an answer to why it did, but it did. Here is the valve for your unit.
After you change the valve be sure to purge the water line for a good 5 - 10 mins to get all the nasty water out. Keep me posted!

My Maytag side by side with water dispenser and ice maker doesn't work. We bought a house - never lived in - and the fridge and freezer work fine. We replaced the water filter and find that no water comes...

The sadle valve is located on the copper pipe where the tube attaches to your water pipe in the house. Shut the water off at the saddle valve. Remove the hose from the rear of the frig on the water inlet valve and put it into a pail. Tunr the water on at the saddle valve and see how fast the water comes out. Some times if the saddle valve is installed on the bottom of the copper pipe they will get corrosive and restrict water flow. Open and close the valve several times to make sure it is clear and reinstall the hose to the rear of the frig. Turn the water back on to see if it works.

Maytag refrigerator Model MZ02766GEW does not dispense water

In the water supply line to the refrigerator is normally a saddle type valve where the water supply is connected to your house water line. Trace it back and shut the valve off fully then turn it back on. When some work is done to any part of your household water system sediment may have lodged in the saddle valve causing a restriction. Closing the saddle valve and reopening it may dislodge the restriction.

Kenmore Side/Side Frig Model 57765791 Water dispenser quit.

  1. listen for click of the switch when you try and get water,
  2. make sure you have water to valve on back of refrigerator, turn off water and take line loose place in a bucket and turn water on, you should have a strong flow of water, it is common for people to have a self piercing saddle valve on the water line. these valves plug easily

Ice maker stop working

YES ... MOST PROBLEMS WITH ICE MAKERS THAT SUDDENLY STOP WORKING IS THE WATER SOLENOID STRAINER IS CLOGGED OR THE ORFICE INSIDE IS CLOGGD.(USUALLY LOCATED BEHIND THE FRIG. WHERE THE SMALL WATER LINE CONNECTS). THE STRAINER AND ORFICE IS USUALLY ON THE "INLET" SIDE OF THE VALVE.WITH BUCKET AND RAG NEAR-BY, TRACE THE SMALL WATER LINE AND LOOSEN EACH NUT TO SEE IF YOU HAVE WATER. SOME WATER SUPPLIES USE A SMALL "SADDLE VALVE" FOR TAPPING INTO A WATER LINE. THEY CAN CLOG TOO ... YOU CAN TEST TO SEE IF THE SOLENOID VALVE HAS POWER TO IT ... BY TAKING A METAL BUTTER KNIFE OR NAIL FILE AND HOLDING IT CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THE SOLENOID (coil) YOU SHOULD FEEL THE MAGNETIC PULL IF IT IS ENERGIZED. IF IT IS ENERGIZED AND YOU HAVE WATER ALL THE WAY INTO THE BACK OF THE FRIG ... THE PROBLEM LIES SOMEWHERE ELSE.
