My oven won't heat past 100 degrees. I haven't received a trouble code or anything, just started not working this way. The heater element was replaced last year and the only other out of sorts thing that I noticed was the indicator light on the front burner seemed to stay on well after the burner had been turned off and cooled down. Any ideas???

Thanks for your response. Can tell me where I can find the eoven base page?
Thanks. M&M
Hello ppeaches,
Are you sure that the oven isn't heating up more than 100 degrees or are you basing the problem on the ovens readback of 100 degrees? If it truly isn't heating more than 100 degrees then anything inside there should be hot but not so hot as that it can't be touched. Have you tried to cook anything in there? My intent to assist in diagnosing the problem is to determine if it is a control based or read back based issue? Try cooking something that requires at least a 350 degree temp and get back to me on what happens... We;ll get you running after that,,,,,
Hi Again,
Thanks for the feedback.. based on your test and the fact that you've programmed the temp to 375.. and that the actual temp was only 100 or so.. then in all probability you have a bad oven sensor... The wat it works is like this.. you set a temperature of XXX and the heating element is turned on until the temperature is reached.. the temperature is reached when the tempertaure sensing probe feedback equals that of the programming.. http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/cgi-bin... Here is a link for the oven sensor probe..and here is a link of the parts breakdown surrounding it. If youlook at item #5 on th eoven base page.. that is probably the problem component... With power removed and someone with some mechanical aptitude, it can be replaced fairly simply.. At the very least, I would unscrew the mount for it and verify that it is still properly plugged in.. This may require accessing the wiring from the backside of the oven... Hope this helps you..

Hi rickzilla,
I have tried cooking in the oven up to 375 degrees. The oven reads that it heats to 100 degrees and then doesn't go any further in heating at that point. The inside of the oven is slightly warm to touch, it does not get hot.
My elderly mum has a Maytag Precision Touch Control 700 Electric Smoothtop. She sets it to 350 and it does not go above 150...can I replace a temperature probe myself if that is the problem?
