SOURCE: I have a Whirlpool coin operated top load washing

I hate this
try insert another coin
if not you will have to run a wire through and a frictioned and magnetised coin might help
if you can you will have to dismantle this part in trying to release it

Do you mean the LG WT-H950 top loader? LG' s Australia site had the manual for the washer on their support site: http://www.lg.com/au/laundry-floorcare-appliances/washing-machines/LG-top-loader-washing-machine-WT-H950.jsp . I have LG WFT70A37ECT top loading washing machin. getting dE error even though door is close, what is the other reason
How many years is yoru washing machine? I suspect bthe magnet on the lid of the washer has probabkly come off which causes the washer not to identify that the door is closed. U need to replace a magnet on the lid.
