Ideas on parts to replace?

Here's the test. With the TV on shine a flashlight on the screen. If you can see a dim picture the backlight circuits are bad. If you cannot see a picture the T-Con board is bad. You can get parts from here: TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

How come my sound bar works when I do a self diagnostic sound test on my tv but there is no sound when i turn it to a channel

You could have set an incorrect sound mode to output via the optical cable. Check your TV to see what sound mode is being outputted via the cable. It could even be switched off!

When my tv is playing regular cable the volume doesnt work but when i play a dvd in the dvd player volume comes out of the tv, whats wrong?

Good--sound when playing a DVD means either a setting is wrong and it can be in the set or a box if connected---it also means the audio output circuit is good.

Worst case is where sound is developed by the set's tuner there may be a problem but check all audio settings first---

Samsung plasma tv made a really loud pop and the screen and sound do not work but the red power light won't come off unless the tv is unplugged what happened?

The main power supply regulator board has the fault. Check if any electrolytic capcitor/s has bursted out. Replace them if any. If this do not help you. repalce the board as card basis.
Replacing it as card basis is fine, rather than making 'surgery' to it.

My ht-r690 receiver's video out stopped working. sound works, tv and cables work (tested on another system) but no video shows up on tv through the receiver. any ideas?

Well there are two possible reasons. 1st- make sure that to do a factory reset on the amp. while it is on Press DVR/VCRat the same time press the power button (Standby) clear will show on the screen.system is now back to defaults try the video.
2nd If the video still not working check the TV out settings. Press Setup - Input Out put assign - Monitor Out- Make sure it's set to HDMI. and the resolutions is set to Through. if this setting is ok and you problem is not solved. it could be an issue with the board or your hdmi device it self.

No sound coming from my Vizio Model #E320VL HDTV. Tried everything I can think of. I have Direct TV and it just stopped working one day. Any advice?

We just had the same problem with our tv, we switched tv's and it still didn't work. We reset our att uverse box, and the sound works. I don't know how direct TV works, but the problem may lie there instead of your TV

I want to hook headphone to my Sharp's 32SB24U TV. I plugged in to audio jack, but the sound is not coming out from headphone. It's still coming out from TV's speaker. Do I need to do someting...

That jack is meant for connecting to Home Theater Systems or to computers not for headphones but it may still work. If you go to your menu and find Output Select change this option to variable. On the off chance it works you might want to be careful when testing... it may lead to sudden deafness if its too loud. By the way this will turn off the sound coming from your speakers.

Hope that helps!

I just received for my birthday, a RCA 900 MHz headphones. Followed the instructions but cannot get it to work. I tried to install it on a Hitasha TV. Can you help me?

Hi,
First you need to make a test to adjust your headphones wireless system..
.pls follow the step below:
  • "Connect the RCAheadphone base" TO " headphones output of TV" with 3.5mm stereo headphone jack cable (than Tv should mute ) RCA pilot lamp should flicker in parallel to voice coming from TV
  • RCA headphone should have 2 different rotary adjustment on it..one "Volume" and the second "Frequency" adjustment
  • while TV talking , adjust slowly the "frequency rotary dial" to catch the headphone transmitter coming from RCA headphone base, when you catch it you will hear the voice of TV,(sometimes fine adjustment makes it better ) than adjust volume properly..
  • .After this pls do not touch Frequency dial any more..Just Turn it on ,and Volume adjustment ..Thats it..
  • After completion of this test ,I recommend you to switch / use "RCA Audio output plugs-white/Red cable " on the back of TV instead of TV's headphone output ,since it mutes the whole sound..RCA output plugs work independently from the TV's master volume control..
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.
Take care and please

Try to go digital optical out to a receiver for surround sound (also Samsung) but not sound comes out. Tested it with a Samsung Blu-Ray player digital optical out, and it worked.... is this a problem with...

The digital audio outputs on televisions sometimes only work when the television is on certain inputs. It does not always work with all hdmi connected devices. I can almost guarantee you that if you connected an over the air antenna to this television and scanned for your free local television channels the digital optical out between the tv and the surround sound would work.Likewise if you have Comcast or one of the other cable carriers that has digital cable you could connect the coax cable directly between the television and the cable wall outlet without the cable box and get sound from the tv's digital audio output to the surround sound.

However there might be a digital audio output television setting you have not changed. Refer to the manual for that or call customer service if necessary.

Speaker test, sounds ok when using mic, it makes the sounds to set it up, once the check has finish, warning one comes up, all wires connected properly using hdmi and optical from reciever to tv, no sound...

The product you're inquiring about is not showing in your post. Name the make and model first, then we'll look for the manual. Then (maybe) find a solution. You might find it at the manufacturer's support site or these guys...

retrevo.com
audio.manualsonline.com
hifiengine.com
usermanualguide.com
Google search: "(product) manual"

What exactly is the warning message? A warning is not an error. Read the manual and see what it means and what you should do about it.

As far as a given source not working, well, there's the manual again. Or swap it to another input or check the source. Bottom line - read the manuals. Come back with details of what does or does not work.
