Hello. I bought the school-version of Cubase S 4. However, the "usb-security.key" has been defect. (I lost the blue plastic around it) Where can get a new one,? I can still open Cubase, but it is a matter of time until it crashes. Best regards Ane RYpdal

It looks like you are trying to download Cubase from Lexicon site . . You can use any software . . Here is a link for free Audio Recording Software. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/
Or you can buy a new license for Cubase . . All the best . .
Its illegal for anyone to provide serial keys for programs that have retail vales set on them there are freeware alternatives on the internet http://www.all-freeware.com/details/124462/eset-sysinspector--64-bit-.htmlESET SysInspector is a free, state of the art diagnostic tool for Windows systems. It is also an integral part of ESETSmartSecurity4 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4. It peers into your operating system and captures details such as running processes, registry content, startup items and network connections. Hope this helps.
From what I have read, if you contact your regional Steinberg distributer they can issue you a new code if yours is lost. Or you could contact Steinberg directly here and request a new cd and licence (providing you can prove that it is a genuine product that you purchased).
Did you use and lose your blue key? If you did you can retrieve the licence number from your computer.
Please attach the USB-eLicenser to the computer and open the eLicenser Control Center. In the eLCC, all connected eLicensers are listed, showing a 12 digit number (USB-eLicenser) or 20 digit number (Soft-eLicenser). This number is also needed to register the eLicensers in MySteinberg. So please make sure to have all keys registered in MySteinberg right after you bought them to have a comprehensive list of all your eLicensers.
Even if you had no chance to register the key or to note down the key number before it became defective or was stolen, the key number(s) are still available on the system if you have the latest eLicenser Control Center installed. The file containing the numbers can be found in these locations:
[Win XP] C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataeLicenserLogsPOS_Used_eLicenser_Serialnumbers.log
if the security light is on it could be the ign lock cylinder, it has two small wires attached to it and one may be broken and are the keys the ones that came with the vehicle
It depends on your operating system, but in XP, open Cubase. Go to the audio input settings, and be sure to select "USB Audio Codec" or "USB Audio Microphone" as the input device.
In Vista, right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar (usually lower right hand corner of the screen) and select "Recording Devices". Make sure to select the "USB Audio" device, then try Cubase again.
