KitchenAid mixer runs evenly at low speeds, motor sound is strange. Seems like the speed controller has problems keeping it at an even low speed. Every now and then the motor seems to transiently speed up, although I can't see it, only hear it.
Mixer is brand new, but i have no warranty. See video clip below, would by very glad if someone could tell me anything about this!:

Ok thanks. But do you really think it's the actual switch? Rather than say speed controller or speed sensor.Ok thanks. But do you really think it's the actual switch? Rather than say speed controller or speed sensor.

Worn carbon motor brushes typically cause motor sparking when you're running the mixer. Unplug the stand mixer and examine the motor brushes for wear. To remove a motor brush, use a screwdriver to unscrew the motor brush cap. Pull the cap and the carbon brush out.
If it does not start at all until you get to speed 10 then look for a broken wire an any of the wires NOT associated with the phase board. Highly unlikely since you have just been there. Next look at the operation of the switch low down inside the black speed control board. There is a primitive switch there operated by a shaft from your speed control lever. You may find the switch is not activating until it gets right up to speed 10. Have you checked the carbon brushes? The phase board you have just done is normally the culprit for your problem.
remove rear coverdome, dust off mechanism carefully with a vacuum and small brush. Inspect all the parts- the black plate with the wires connecting to it is the speed control; beneath it are centrifugal weights which form the governor- the faster the motor spinsthe further the governor assy pushes out agatnst the contacts on the control plate to keep the speed smoothly moderated. If you have speed control but it just runs too slow or not slow enough the two screws at top of the control plate can adjust the speed; loosten the jam nut slightly and adjust the screws evenly together. Be sure theres nothing worn out or damaged which could be fatal to the mechanism later.
note tht the bottom of the control plate is retained by a wire hook on the end of a spring. It is a problem to catch and pull out if you lose it inside the mixer. If you set speed too low you will lose all power at low speeds.
The condensor at top of nontrol plate has only two wires from it out either side a flat cardboard tube. If shorted you will lose all speed adjustment. Test by disconnecting one or both wires.DO NOT RUN MIXER WITHOUR CONDENSOR except for brief testing... otherwise your trouble is the PC board- the white grease is important behind the heat sink dont remove it (standard heatsink grease for computers, etc.) Best of luck!
either the electrical motor brushes are worn down on the motors commutator and can no longer contact the motors commutator bands,or if its a newer style mixer the triac that controls the speeds on the unit could have opened up and can no longer supply variable or even high speeds
If it is the worm gear then the planetary will stop turning when there is a load on the paddle but the motor will continue to run at the speed you set it at. I'd be checking the carbon brushes, checking that the field assembly has not loosened up a bit and then I would see if the speed control plate adjustment screws are loose. I'd then reset the speed and see if it stays as it should be.
Hi. Goto kitchenaid.com and download the parts catalog for your mixer model, these drawings will assist you in the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer.
You'll need to replace the speed control in your mixer. This is a common problem. Be prepared to wait at least a month for your parts to arrive. Unplug your mixer before you open it up.
If you're still under warranty call kitchenaid!

These mixers have a spring inside the back cover to make the control plate follow the speed control knob. Sometimes it unhooks and you only get on, and 1 or 2 speeds.
