Hello, My Canonscan 4400f driver does not work when I want to scan. I have a MAC OS X 10.6.8 It worked for years. But I emptied my computer and downloaded several times from the internet. But it keeps saying "failed to open a driver" when I push the SCAN button. I hope this is just a common problem. And I hope sincerely that you can help me. Regards, Esther from Amsterdam

SOURCE: Canon N650U and Mac OSX

Canon only has this scanner driver in OS9 and it will run in classic mode if you are using OSX. This $40 software will work with your scanner in OSX, but for $40 you can purchase an OSX native scanner too.

SOURCE: failed to open a driver

OK. Here is what you do. (I just did this on an Intel Mac running OX10.5.6)
First go to the cannon site and get the program (File name: deldrvosx1510en.dmg) to uninstall the drivers for your scanner. Also, delete copies of the scan toolbox that you may have installed in your application folder.

Then go back to the canon site for the LiDE 25 and install the drivers (file name: lide25osx11030en.dmg.) This part is very important, in the middle of the install a dialog will popup asking if it is OK to run something like deldvr, DO NOT ALLOW IT TO RUN, HIT CANCEL.
reboot.
Install the canon toolbox software (it should be version 4.9.x not 5.0). File name is : cstbosx4934ej4.dmg
You should now be good to go.
What a %^#%$#-up process on Canons part.

You need to install canonscan toolbox software, the interface is user friendly and scanning is just one click from there. but before installing that make sure install mp drivers first.

RE Canon scanner problem 'No driver found'. downloaded new updated software twice and got the same message. Using Apple Mac Os x (snow L.)

Pls disconnect the scanner, uninstall scanner driver and switch of the computer. After restarting, run Scan disk and then install appropriate driver for MAC OS and connect the scanner. This should work.

Push button to operate and nothing happens

Scan via Twain plugin (photoshop) for the N 650U is the only solution working for me. Front button stopped working after a needed update 3 or so years ago, don't expect that to work anymore.
I am using Mac OS X Snow Leopard on an Intel MPB.

I am unhappy with the light level while scanning slides.

I haven't solved the light problem, but I have found a pretty good program that allows me to enhance my scanned slides-pics into nearly slide-projector quality pics: XnView. I have found that it is best to not try to use the enhance program in PhotoStudio 5.5 (the driver-program for the Canonscan 4400F).
