SOURCE: SATA configuration for MSI P965 Neo --- JMicron hell!
Look at the support page for MSI P965 NEO V2.
The is a link to download the JMicron SATA driver, however, once i booted the driver from a floppy driver by clicking the F6 in WINXP settupt, it did not work - WINXP install would crash.
WTF is this **** with JMicron.
MSI support is pathetic, it does not even have SATA drivers for P965 NEO...
SOURCE: Asus P5K-E Wifi/AP configuring sata as raid
I have 3 hard drives, one I have my windows system files on, and on the others I was planning on doing a mirrored raid. Is this possible? I couldn't get it to work, I put the hard drive mode into RAID mode or ACPI (or whatever the other mode was) and it doesn't allow me to boot into windows or anything, blue screen of death.
Only works in IDE mode, but I cant make it raid using IDE mode :"(

Hi Grumpy
It sounds like your mainboard is not set up to allow for a SATA boot drive.
Have a look in your bios and ensure the boot order is set to the SATA drive first
Then, make sure the SATA drive is formatted and has an operating system installed.
Alternatively, boot the system from a boot disk ( your XP or Vista disk will allow this) and check to see if the board can see the drive and can read the drive if it is already formatted.
If not, format it and install the O/S onto it and make sure you answer YES to the question " do you wish to boot from this drive?"
Both my systems use SATA drives and I only had a boot fault because the "pre-formatted drive" I bought was not formatted and formatting under windows during O/S installation solved this issue..

Looking in the net I found someone running an E8500 on this board so I guess an E8400 will work fine.

I NEED TO KNOW THE MANF. & MODEL OF THIS CARD BEFORE GOING MUCH FURTHER. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR MOTHERBOARD 'THINKS' IT IS A RAID OR SCSI CONTROLLER. ALSO, PLASE LET ME KNOW WHAT OS YOU ARE TRYING TO BOOT UP.
