Sabbath Setting We bought a 2006 Samsung Bottom Freezer refrigerator. It was a floor model. We need the refrigerator to comply with the Sabbath standards. Can anyone help me understand how I can "program" or "rig" the refrigerator to NOT turn on its control panel lights on the sabbath.

Thank you! I just got the Samsung RF265AB bottom freezer refrigerator delivered Friday morning and the magnets worked perfectly for Shabbos. I never would have thought to try magnets if I hadn't seen this fix. My question is, is the freezer light also magnetic? We couldn't figure out where to put the magnet for the freezer, so we just unscrewed the lightbulb, but it would be even better if we could just put on a magnet like we did for the fridge.

We just bought an RF261BEAESR. I saw a YouTube video about the magnet trick, but can't get it to work consistently on mine. The spots seem to be on the front of the top frame near the "Switch" signs, i.e. mid-way between the hinge and the center of the unit on either side. I called Samsung, and they just say "there's no way to do it, your model doesn't have Sabbath mode." Any other ideas or more specific directions?

I just bought the SamsungRF267AB bottom freezer refrigerator.  Amoung the features that must be disabled for shabbos are the lights, motor cuttoff and inside panel indicators.  On most refrigerators there is a swich that you can tape in the depressed mode that will trick the unit into thinking the door is still closed.  With this unit it's magnetic.  you need to place a magnet on the top of the door frame to make the refigerator think the door is still closed.  I hope this helps.

What does SAb. Bath mean on an stove clock mean

During the Sabbath, or Shabbat, and religious holidays in Judaism, there may be restrictions on certain activities that can extend to the use of appliances. Restrictions may include turning appliances on or off, using control panels or activating lights and sounds. Sabbath Mode allows people to use their household appliances without violating their religious laws. When appliances are put into Sabbath Mode, certain features may be modified or disabled to accommodate these needs.
Our guide explains how Sabbath Mode affects cooktops, ovens and refrigerators. Keep reading or jump to an appliance category to learn more:
  • What is Sabbath Mode on a stove or cooktop?
  • What is Sabbath Mode on an oven?
  • What is Sabbath Mode on a refrigerator or freezer?
  • What is Sabbath Mode on a wine refrigerator?
What is Sabbath Mode on a stove or cooktop?
You can cook on your stove when it's in Sabbath Mode, but additional features and functionality are disabled. When your stove is in Sabbath Mode:
  • Cooktop burners can still be operated.
  • Sounds such as tones or chimes are disabled.
  • Displays will not indicate temperature changes.
  • Timers are disabled.
  • Cooktop Lockout, a feature that prevents unintended use of the cooktop, is disabled.
  • Energy Save is disabled in select models.
  • Start, Cancel and Off keys, as well as Warming Zone on/off (select models), remain enabled. All other keys are disabled.
What is Sabbath Mode on an oven?
When in Sabbath Mode, your oven will disable its automatic shut-off function to stay on longer than 12 hours. This means that the oven will stay in a Bake mode until shut off, which will allow you to use the oven for cooking or warming food. It is important to remember that certain features will need to be enabled or disabled before using Sabbath Mode. This includes the following:
  • Oven Light: Turn your oven light on or off before engaging Sabbath Mode. Your oven light will remain as it was set until Sabbath Mode is turned off - it will not be affected by the Oven Light switch or by opening or closing your oven door.
  • Warming Drawer: If you plan to use your warming drawer, it must be turned on prior to enabling Sabbath Mode. Adjust your warming drawer settings prior to turning on Sabbath Mode, as these settings cannot be changed once the Mode is engaged.
While your oven is in Sabbath Mode, only the Bake setting can be enabled - all other oven settings, including temperature displays, sounds and cleaning cycles, are disabled.
What is Sabbath Mode on a refrigerator or freezer?
Sabbath Mode allows you to open and close the refrigerator or freezer doors without activating interior lights, sounds or other controls. While your fridge is in Sabbath Mode, water filter status lights are disabled and temperatures cannot be adjusted.
What is Sabbath Mode on a wine refrigerator?
When Sabbath Mode is activated on your wine fridge or wine cooler, the exterior lights and display will be deactivated. This will make your appliance appear as if it is turned off, but your wine cooler will keep running as normal, and its temperature settings will remain unchanged. Learn how to activate Sabbath Mode on your wine refrigerator.

Have a Electrolux refrig. french doors and bottom mount. model ei23bc56iso Its shut off. The display in front at the dispencer says OFF at frezzer side and OFF at refrig side. No other displays or error ...

  1. Bottom Mount Refrigerator Ice Maker. When the bottom mount refrigerator is placed in Sabbath mode the ice maker will be automatically disabled. Please be aware however, that although you have entered the Sabbath mode, the icemaker will complete the cycle it had already initiated. The ice cube compartment will remain cold, and new ice cubes can then be made manually in the freezer section (using a standard ice cube tray) as needed for that Sabbath/Holiday.

  2. Sabbath Mode and the Perfect Temp Drawer (if equipped). The Perfect Temperature Drawer should be turned off for the Sabbath/Holidays. Before putting the refrigerator into the Sabbath mode, turn the Perfect Temp Drawer off by pressing the drawer on / off button. The display will show "OFF" and the drawer will turn off. Then enter the Sabbath mode function on the main refrigerator display. The drawer display will now not illuminate and the drawer will remain off until Sabbath mode is exited and the drawer is turned back on. The drawer can still be used as a non temperature controlled drawer in this mode.
  3. Press the display button few seconds and recheck.
---------- Check out thanks.

Samsung Fridge Freezer leaking water

hi August.
Cause: A blocked defrost drain is one of the most common causes of water leakage. This happens when food particles or other debris clogs up the drain hose, which can lead to ice buildup and, eventually, water leaking out of the freezer and refrigerator.
3 common refrigerator problems you can easily fix yourself

The freezer drain hose will drain the defrost water into a drip pan at the bottom of the freezer. When this pan becomes full, it will leak water onto the floor. This is a regular maintenance task whenever the freezer defrosts. Empty the drip pan during the defrost cycle.
How to Fix Water Leaking From the Bottom of Freezer

Why is my fridge leaking water on the floor? If the refrigerator is leaking water it's possible that the refrigerator has a clogged or freezing defrost drain. If the defrost drain freezes the defrost water will overflow the drain and drip down to the bottom of the compartment, If enough water accumulates in the bottom it can run out onto the floor.
