Ice Cube Maker

LG French door bottom freezer Model LFX25950
Ice cube maker quit working after I emptied the ice bank. The automatic shutoff arm is in the down position and has not moved upon putting the ice bank back in.

The automatic shutoff arm just stays in the down position when the ice maker is turned on. I can hear the ice maker motor running, but nothing happens.

Thanks a bunch! Section 7 describes how to do the test: hold down the fill button 3 seconds. I had to hold mine down for about 10 seconds and took 2 tries but the icemaker finally filled with water and the arm is now up! Let's hope that it makes ice now.

Can you tell if your water is being dispensed into the mold tray? If not, check your water line coming intoteh fridge then if that has pressure.. check that the inlet valve is opening to allow water into the mold tray.. If the motor is cycling but you aren't flowing water into the tray.. you won't get ice...

Has the fridge been relocated or have you done any service on it? ( I am trying to understand if you've done anything that would cause it to stop producing ice)..

Ice cube dispenser

make sure the ice maker lever is in the down position, when removing the tray the arm was probably moved to the top(off) position as if the tray was actually full which would shut off the ice making process

The Ice maker has stopped working.

There are usually 2 small solenoid valves that are used to control water. Both are generally installed at the rear close to the bottom of the fridge. One of the solenoids controls the water flow for drinks and the other is to control water flow to the ice maker. You can determine which is which by tracing the water supply tubes from the freezer compartment to the solenoid or by process of elimination. The latter method requires that you feel for movement (clicking) or heat on the water dispenser solenoid while someone starts to fill a glass with water from the fridge.

Before going any further, make sure that the ice cube detection arm in the freezer is not up. Gently push the arm down if it is. When ice cubes are ready, the ice maker turns on a small heater to break the bond of the ice cubes to the cube mold. The arm is lifted up and out of the way. Then the mechanical fingers wipe or push on the cubes to dislodge them from the ice cube mold and they fall into the container. The arm is then lowered again and rests on top of the ice collected in the container. The position of the arm when resting on the ice cubes determines whether or not any more ice cubes are made.

If the arm is hanging down, then ice cube production should be on. The problem may be either a faulty solenoid valve (mentioned above), switch in the ice maker assembly - the detection arm in particular or wiring between.

Ice maker is not working

check that the ice maker arm is not in the up position or has come dislogded. if the metal wire is dislodged use a mirror to help put back in the ice maker. put it back in the round white area with an elongated slot. flip down if off. check the ice maker to see if an ice cube got hung up and is jamming it. check with eyes and fingers. last the ice maker will not cycle if the door switch is not activated. this check requires you turn off the ice maker with the arm. come back in 6 hours put the arm back down and hold door switch and see if it starts.

I've got the LFX25960ST model. The icemaker

its the ice maker .water or condensation has built up in the ice maker modual and refroze upon turning unit back on.either get a new ice maker or uninstall the ice maker and let it dry for a few days and reinstall.but it could happen again that way.or maybe not.

Ice maker stopped working after about 6 months

Sounds like the ice maker heater (which releases the cubes) is not working. Individual parts are not available. The entire ice maker must be replaced, but since you say it is only 6 months old, it would be covered under the factory warranty. Find a service provider (in the US) at http://www.lge.com/us/support/repair/support-repair-provider-lookup.jsp

The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

Hello jitkagardner,
Welcome

You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

How old is the fridge?
When have you last changed the water filter.
Should be down below at the front grille!
Try these tasks!

If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
• Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
• Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
• New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
• Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer
compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not
close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely."
• Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
• Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
• Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and
operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may
be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it
correctly.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.

Let me know how it goes!
