I have a Kenmore Coldspot Fridge. The icemaker is leaking in the fridge and running water all over the inside causing ice to form every where. I already replaced the water fill tube. I noticed after the icemaker fills up and the water is starting to freeze small amouts of water will trickle out a little at a time (very little) but enough that it cause the ice maker to over fill and water runs every where. Would this be inlet valve which supplies water to the ice maker?

SOURCE: Samsung RS2555SL ice maker must have overflowed

Sounds as if the inlet water valve is leaking. Most likely the culprit of "ice maker overflowed" the original issue.Very common.

Here is the procedure and videos to watch...it will explain everything.Your scenario is highlighted in red.

If you have further questions please post.

Ice maker water valve troubleshooting.

These are the three most common reasons why the ice maker is not producing.

1.) The ice maker is not telling the water valve to send water.

2.) The ice maker is telling the water valve it needs water but the water valve is not capable of sending it. Meaning the coil for the ice maker is stuck closed not allowing water to the ice maker.

3.)Or the ice maker is calling for water and the water valve sends it and the coil will not shut close the valve allowing water to flow freely...until it overflows in your ice maker.

SOURCE: Bad chemical smell & taste

Hi.

The smell is not given by refrigerant gas, which is rather odorless. Moreover, if you had a coolant leak the unit would have stopped cooling after few days. The smell is coming from some plastic part inside the freezer, and then probably diffusing into the fresh food section. Contamination with the insulating foam present between fridge panels will often result in a strong acidic smell.

In cases like this the job is done removing all food. Defrosting the unit completely, getting rid of any ice or water that will preserve the smell. Then cleaning the interior side with a strong cleanser product like this one (click here).

If the regular cleaner is not enough, use the following:

Cerama Bryte Fridge Cleaner - 16 oz

Freezer Deodorizer, 16 Oz. Box

Whirlpool Part 31461

Use a thin brush to reach the fridge compartment's corners.

Regards.

Ginko.

SOURCE: I have a Sears Kenmore Coldspot side-by-side

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

I note that this is a 21 year old refrigerator. Loads of things that can cause the symptom your describing at this point.

Things I see you have done:
1. Cleaned the coils front (I assume you mean inside the freezer) and rear (by the compresor).
2. Changed temp settings
3. Checked "the fan"

Things you need to check....
1. Is the evaporator fan in the freezer compartment running at full speed? If it is running very slow... it will NOT properly cool or freeze.
2. Is the condenser fan in the back of the unit near the compressor running? Just note that if the condenser fan is not running the main chassis will be very warm to hot where the door seals close on the chassis.
3. Is the COMPRESSOR running at all or is it trying to start and then you year a click after about 40 seconds that repeats in 4 - 5 minutes? Another note... 20 year old compressors can start to drag the ROTOR against the Stator and cause higher than normal utility bills... before complete failure. If you noticed your electric usage creeping higher and higher over the last few months you may have a bad compressor.
4. Are you 100 percent sure there is NOT a large block of ice in the back of the freezer compartment all around the evaporator coils? If you find that there is a large block of ice then you need to do a 2 hour manual defrost with an external fan pointed into the freezer compartment, contents removed and the unit unplugged.

After doing step 4 you can return the unit to normal service but if there is an automatic defrosting problem that is HIGHLY likely on a unit that is 21 years old.... you will need to have the automatic defrosting problem corrected.

A note about your ice maker. It has an internal thermostat that has to reach 14 - 16 deg F for the ice maker to start the harvest / fill cycle. If your freezer is running at 30 F it will NOT make any ice automatically.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

SOURCE: The icemaker stopped making ice. There is water

There are many things that can go wrong with a Kenmore refrigerator ice maker. Your ice maker may be leaking. It may not make any ice at all, or the ice that comes out smells or has an odd appearance. The problem may have an easy solution, or it may require a technician's expertise. The troubleshooting tips in this article will minimally make you aware of what is likely the source of the problem. You may be able to fix the problem yourself and save a bundle.

When it Won't Make Ice
1 Get a thermometer and see how cold it is in there. If your freezer is fewer than 17 degrees F, it won't make ice. The freezer temperature setting may be too high or the thermometer is broken and not calibrated correctly. If adjusting the temperature fails to work, call a Kenmore technician.
2 Determine if your water fill spout in the freezer is plugged with ice. If so, no new ice can be made. Try clearing it out or melting the ice by running a hair dryer on it for a few minutes.
3 Turn your refrigerator around to look at the back side to see if water is getting to the water inlet valve behind the fridge. If the water is not properly connected, there's no water to make ice.
4 Use an ohm meter to test for coil continuity. If the ohm meter shows there is no continuity, then you will need to replace the water inlet valve.

When the Ice Maker Leaks
1 Refer to your user manual to determine where your fill volume adjustment dial, is and turn it down. One-half to one full turn usually is approximately equal to 20 to 40 cc, and the correct fill is usually 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ).
2 See if there are icicles hanging from the fill spout and/or on the ice maker's sides. If there are, this means your water inlet valve is leaking and will need replacing. Refer to your user manual for a part number, or call a technician.
3 Check to see if the ejector seal is cracked. If it is, replace it. Refer to your user manual for a part number, or call a technician.

Hope this tips could help.

Have a nice day : )

Kenmore coldspot model 106 53532300 leaking on the floor, freezer side.

Hi,

please double check that your freezer door is closing properly. You can also pull the fridge out and check whether the water is coming from the back of the of the fridge. If not, then that means there's a leak under the fridge and if that's the case you'll need to schedule a diagnostic on the fridge. You might reach out to Kenmore over the phone directly to ask them to send you a technician for this.

Thank you.

Fridge leaking intermittently from the bottom

Sounds like your gasket may be going out. Consider replacing the gasket on the doors. Look for signs like small lines of frozen water that lead to the door or unexplainable excess ice in the bottom of the freezer.
I would also check for excess water in the condensation catcher tray, which may very well be located in the same spot under the ice maker. Depending on where you live (southeast, coastal, etc...) can have a strong contributing factor of having excess condensation, which will cause the tray to overflow.

Leaking under neath front of refrigerator

Usually any defrost water sits in a plastic pan and evaporates away in normal operation. If the pan becomes brittle it cracks and leaks water. Pull the fridge out and look on top of the black pot (compressor) Is there a plastic drain pan sat on top of it?
Sometimes if the fridge is working hard a lump of ice can form on the pipework going back to the compressor which melts causing some water at the front of the fridge.
Lastly, the insulation under the fridge may have broken down, allowing condensation to form and drip. If the drain was blocked, the water would be inside the fridge, not underneath.

My kenmore coldspot refrigerator is warm with water forming inside yet freezer is working

It could either be a fan at the back of the freezer not working or short of gas. Some fridge/freezers control the fridge section with a fan blowing the cold air down the back when required, but all evaporator coils will ice up at the start from continuously running and trying to cool the end of the coil.

We have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 106 70102000 with the water and ice maker, it is now leaking inside the fridge itself and we have turned the water off to the ice maker and dispenser. What is causing the...

It is probably your defrost cycle causing this. Obviously if you shut the water line off then it is not coming from there so there is only 1 other place it could be. Every 8, 10, or 12 hours depending on you defrost timer the refrigerator will defrost itself.......the frost melts into water and drains into a pan under the fridge. If the drain is plugged then it will just run into the refrigerator. If you have a freezer on top model then just remove the back wall inside the freezer, it will be a few 1/4 inch screws....If you have an icemaker then remove that too, it will be held on with 3 screws. Just look behind that wall and you will probably see ice at the bottom.....defrost the ice and pour a cup or 2 of water into the drain to make sure it is unclogged. If it is still plugged up then you have to find the clog....either in the back of the fridge behind the lower cover or in the refrig compartment near the back of the roof.

Water not going into icemaker. Water dispenser works fine.

Check the water valve at the back of the fridge if present.

Even if you used blowdryer, ensure that linse are not frozen by performing a complete defrost.

Disconnect water lines from icemaker, and blow with compressor if the above did not work.
