I am looking to replace the burner contol knobs on my Jenn-air range. The knobs look like the 1246687 or Y700854 but do NOT have the "D" type shaft. Although there is a reference to the other type knobs I do not see them listed anywhere. Help. Thanks, Adrian

  • adonohue Sep 08, 2011

The model number of my range is Jenn-air Mod C-221. I had previously gotten a set of knobs (1246687) which look exactly like the knobs I need but with a "D" shaft. I need the same knobs with the double flat sided shaft.

    Hope that is clearer.

The knobs you have are not the original codes from whirpool. However they sell them since they think that they can work however if at the bigining they can rotate the switch later they will be loosen up. We have here the part diagram of your model and the knobs you need are no 3 and they have three different option but with photo that you choose which one you need. You use these codes and photos and ask from the supplier that send you the wrong knobs if they can change them and if not you can buy these new ones.

Jenn-Air Dual Fuel Range Model JDT8895BAS

Our two burners on the right are not igniting, can you tell us why? how do I fix it ? the two on the left are fine.

judging by your post I can only assume that the range is gas. If so then the left and right side are controlled by two separate ig-niter boxes and one of them have failed. In order to repair it you will need to locate the ignition module's. They are usually located under the plate that houses the knob assembly. To determine witch one it is you will need to un plug the range and disconnect only one of the burners. Plug back in the range and try to fire one of the burners that works and see if it is not working now. If it is then you have un plugged the correct one. Again un plug the range and finish the removal. Sense this is Jenn-air then you will need to order the new one from them. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. There are a few things to check for. Make sure the electrode (the small metal piece that the spark comes off from) is clean and the holes in the burner are clean, use a pin or paper clip to clean out the burner holes and not a tooth pick as these can break off and make things worse. Example of a burner. The next thing to check for are the ignition switches under the surface control knobs, the switches can twist and break and keep the spark module on and the spark keeps "clicking" even when the burner is light. If every thing looks good, you may have a bad spark module, replace it.
The switches or the range control knobs may have got wet and are completing the circuit to the spark module thus causing it to continuously click or fire off sparks continuously. Use your hair/blow dryer and blow some hot air around the spark module area.

This is a typical spark module wire diagram--

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Downdraft Slide-In Range

I have the radiant cooktop (i.e., glass top) version of this range. I've had this same problem since I first purchased this unit. I wondered why no one answered this question, as I check back to see from time to time. I finally contacted Jenn-Air's online support. My conversation was as follows (I'm not entirely sure that the tech support knew what she was talking about, but here you go anyway):

message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Hi, my name is Cidalia C. How may I help you?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Hello!
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: I have a question regarding my "Downdraft Radiant Cooktop"
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you for contacting Jenn-Air today with your inquiry. What is your question please?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: None of my burners can simmer-- no matter what the setting, they will boil water!
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Is there an adjustment that can be made to attenuate the heat?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: What is the model number of your cook top please
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: JED8430ADB
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you. In looking at your burner configuration, the smallest wattage on your unit is 1200. And, unfortunately, there is no way to get a small wattage for your burners. We apologize for the inconvenience.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: Yes, but the dials are supposed to prevent the full 1200 watts from reaching the burner unless it's on maximum heat, correct?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Yes, but the burners do not get low enough to be considered simmer burners.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Did you have any other questions or concerns today?
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool You: I suppose not.
message.gif?p_db_name=whirlpool Cidalia C: Thank you for contacting Jenn-Air. Have a good day!

Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.
