Pull the batteries out, slam them ******* a solid surface. put 'em in, let 'em charge. if that doesn't bring 'em back buy new bats.also, use a voltmeter to make sure the charger was getting voltage.
Good luck!

The rechargeable batteries supplied by Cobra have exposed metal on the bottom part of the side of each battery. This metal makes contact with the "rechargeable battery detector" contact in the battery bay.All that you have to do in order to make your new rechargeable batteries work correctly is to take a knife and carefully scrape away the plastic sleeve at the bottom of one of the four batteries, exposing the metal underneath.

Once you insert a battery with an exposed metal side into the left-most slot, then the Cobra radio will "think" that it has rechargeable batteries fitted, and will then allow recharging to take place.

What volt charger is needed for (cobra microtalk pr560wx)? Thanks,Richard

Hi Richard,
Volt Charger??? I'm not sure what you mean, but if you mean what voltage to recharge the batteries, then you need to look at the unit, all over to find the AC input, there should be something tht states voltage and polarity there, if it infact has one.

Pease reply with more detail re: your query.

Peter

I just put new batteries in my Cobra microtalk PR 3500 DX battery charger. How long will it take to charge them? Should the Radio's be in the on or off position. Thank You [email protected] Mike...

The radios will work fine while being charged, but they will charge faster if turned off. Normal charging time is 8-10 hours, but I would recommend an overnight charge - they won't overcharge or be damaged by the longer charge time.

My charger will not charge

1) Clean the battery contacts on the radio, battery and charger with a pencil eraser.
2) Test the charger by turning the radio on while attached to the charger (do NOT transmit, as this may cause damage to the unit). If the light on the charger comes on while the radio is turned on, you have a good charger, and a bad battery.
3) If the above test detects a bad battery, replace the battery.
4) Not sure if the battery is bad? Trade the battery out of a known good unit into this one to see if it solves the problem.

Cant charge

first confirm the battery is in properly. then your charger should have an output equal to your battery power, e.g. if the battery is 3.6 v make sure your charger is at least putting out that. make sure the contacts on your charger are making contact on your radio.

Microtalks won't charge

I have the Cobra Microtalk 4100 FRS radios with charging base. After changing the batteries with new nimh rechargables the charge light would not illuminate and the unit would not charge. I noticed the original batteries had a metal band around one end. This band makes a small connection inside the battery compartment on the first battery. Seems to be a cheap way to ensure you dont try to recharge the unit with non-rechargable batteries installed. I rapped a small piece of tinfoil around one end of the first battery in the new set then popped it back in and now they will charge correctly again. Dont try this with non-rechargable batteries! I would recomend buying original replacement batteries.
