Z8 is nice, I know for sure,
Z8PE-D12
the dual xenon server grade mobo, like my z600 works station has but HP made.
let me guess both boards never worked for you and you bought them on fleabay, and are DOA? that it, what is the story here.
Let me guess more, (no history at all)
you just put in a new CPU, xeon, ?
well if you did and
1: it is not support, it will do that.
2: or it needs flashed bios to support newer xeons.
3; no you can not run all xeon's made in this mobo ever.
first off put only one xeon the primary socket.
and only ram for just it.
then at ausu we site makes sure you are using the right xeons first.
the correct path is with working xeon, flash the bios.
then upgrade xeons last.
ok?
5500 series processor
1366 socket
Six-Core/Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® X5600 Series (130W)
Six-Core/Quad-Core/Dual Core Intel® Xeon® E5600/E5500 Series (80W)
Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® W5500 Series (130W)
Dual Core/Six-Core/Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® L5600/L5500 Series (60W/40W/38W)
Six-Core/Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® X5600/X5500 Series (95W)
here is the offical list.
newest BIOS is 1401
i bet yours is super old bios and not stated, or what xeons you have.
as you can see it is not trivial this topic.

it seems owning just 1
Dual-Core Intel Xeon E5502
as cheap as $5 60 on fleabay will allow flashing this mobo firmware, worst case.
what CPU, did you try running 1 CPU first.
be wise to do so and the oldest slowest CPU first.
this mobo has EZ-flash, ? some version have. it.
it means bios can flash it self, with no OS.
and is more reliable. next best is FREEDOS.!
worst way is using windows to flash ,in multitasking mode.
the manual shows also, a bios regression step
page 50 (jumper clip)
the ez-flash page
page 69
page 72 carefree bios, trick
best is freedos.
fat32 formatted usb memory, smaller is better.
also never lay the mobo on matal objects
if you short the CMOS pin on the Intel ICH chip
it blow the chip up. (intel warning on this)
the Coin cell, never ground it out by accident or on purpose.

1 foot off the floor, glass lives, beer lost.

2 foot, same (more beer filled)
3 feet, class breaks beer lost. owner mad(of bar) you too drunk to care...
what did you learn. (not much)
same with cars, or wrecking anything on purpose. (but the builders love you$$$)

Look for blown capacitors. Check this site for example pics.

Hi there.
If you look on any support/bios update forum/website, you will find that flashing the bios is very risky. The reason it's risky is because of what you just described.
While flashing the bios, the bios chip memory is deleted and then the new bios is written. If you lose power, system crashes, or anything that interrupts the flashing process, the chip is rendered useless.
The computer turned off while flashing, and the reason there is no screen is because there is no bios to load. There is no way to reverse this or repair it.
If you are handy with a soldering iron and are confident with electronic components, you may be able to pick up another bios chip on the internet, but you will have to solder it to the board yourself.
Otherwise it's a new motherboard.
Sorry it wasn't good news

Hi,
Are you able to enter into the BIOS settings by pressing DEL?
If so, load default settings in the BIOS and try booting up again.
Best wishes,

I didn't find your exact model number, but if you want a detailed manual of your mobo the this is the link:

As I did not find your model number, please recheck the model number. If your numbers are correct you should be able to find the documentation you desire at the link above.
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps don
