Unrecognized, locked or non functional SD cards can experience many types of issues due to severe damages and or tiny cracks.
When a card is plugged in to a reader and not registered or not registering correctly you might then experience lost files you badly need recovered.
eProvided is developing tools to help those people that are having issues with loosing data on SD cards. Many of the secure digital cards produced these days are becoming damaged, bent etc. There is no rhyme or reason for these issues, they just happen. SD's showing a size of 31MB is becoming common, it's a bad situation, it means the card is badly damaged. You will need assistance from an educated professional. :) Yay, right? Well there are some that DO know what's up here.
We are consulting directly with NASA and act as the primary lab for such cases daily, we are in business for over 16 years. There is a sense of desperation these days in dealing with damaged and lost data on all SD's. We are at about a 45% success rate no matter what has happened to an SD or microSD. Many of them are reported as the wrong size, many are not recognized and some have obvious issues such as breaks, cracks etc.
No matter what others say anywhere there is hope for you all that have major issues. SD cards are considered monolith devices (monolithic). USB sticks and regular SD cards these days can be made with NAND wafers or a complete package, what we call in the industry a monolith storage device. We can get inside these devices by taking off layers with special machinery and we also can use many other options to get around the damage.
I am also looking to collaborate with others on this topic that are engineering minds with experience on this topic. It's a big problem these days. We are dealing with all storage devices, mostly new technology and we have a global network with some amazing gear-heads to solve all these problems... but I am trying as fast as possible to increase the success rates and expand knowledge on such file recovery cases so please let me know if you are interested in staying in touch ongoing.
I will mention below in my signature who we are and what we are about and hope we can share and help this thread and community with future success stories, if anyone has questions and requires a solution feel free to reach out to me/us.

Check if the card is formatted with FAT32.
SOURCE: PNY Optima SD HC 8GB isnt working on laptop
I think that your computer doesn't recognize this hc memory type device format. If you buy an inexpensive memory card reader (less than $10 in many computer stores) it will read that type of memory without a problem. I know, I just went through this.

What photo printer are you using?
It might not be able to read the High Capacity Memory Card. Check the user manual it should say what size and type of memory cards it is compatible with.
SOURCE: My 4GB PNY Optima sd card will not read
Try the 4GB card in some other reader, or your camera, to confirm that it does work.
It's possible that your card-reader will not support anything over 2GB.

Try putting a tiny piece of scotch tape over the lock slider. See if that works.

becoz then the autoplay of the drive will be activated and it will freez your computer......recomandation is to format the drive in computer not in the cam, or you can open the SD drive frome 3rd party software (total commander), and delete the hidden autorun files.
