I have a Kenmore Elite side-by-sr ide refrigerator Model 106. The ice making system is putting too much water in the ice tray, making the cubes too big. These large cubes are clogging up the dispenser. I have been told that I need to replace the ice making system unless I can find an adjustment that will allow me to make the ice cubes smaller. The manual does not mention a setting for ice cube size. Does such an adjustment exist on this model? If so, how do I adjust it.

With out the full model number it is hard to say. Most 106 model referigators have a modular ice maker. If you take the cover off of the front of the ice maker and look on the right hand side of the motor module you will notice a small plastic adjustment screw. If you turn this screw you can adjust your water fill time to the ice maker.

Kenmore icemaker tray leaking water (model 795.51022.012)

Do the old 'KISS" thing first (keep it simple ......thing). Chances are that there are tiny calcium deposits in the ice tray which makes an ice cube stick in the tray. If one ice cube sticks, the water will overflow as it needs all the trays empty for the filling. The water will drip down into the freezer area causing chunky ice and stalagmites. The calcium deposits are very teeny in size but will hang up an ice cube from dropping. If more than one ice cube (basically all the ice cubes) didn't drop then the heater in that unit that initially gets the ice cubes to drop could be bad.

I've taken the ice cube assembly out and used vinegar with baking soda to dissolve the calcium and that worked. I left it in for a couple of days. "Do NOT" use anything like a knife or whatever to scrape the bottom of the tray as it will destroy the finish and keep the ice cubes sticking.

When I had the warranty service come out, the technician explained what happened to the tray (calcium). He replaced the tray but the next time it happened I used the vinegar and baking soda. I eventually bought a new tray for 1/2 the price on the internet when the problem happened later on in life.

2005 Kenmore Elite - No ICE

If there is ice in the tray but the harvest arm is not pushing them out; either the heater is not warming the cubes fore removal or the temp sensor is not telling the harvest arm to function. Usually this requires the ice maker to be replaced. Also the freezer must be at least 15 degrees or less.

Kenmore 106 50522 water leak from Icemaker

Hi: Usually if the ice maker malfunctions that bad it will keep running and flood bad. If your defrost drain is plugged it will puddle water. Without knowing how much water you see it is tough for me to say precisely. Does the ice bin have a big block of solid ice or cubes? If cubes I would guess it is the defrost drain at the bottom of the fridge. If the drain is clogged the water wont get to the pan to evaporate. If the defrost water has nowhere to go it will puddle. This would produce more water on the floor in a humid area than a desert like I live in. If so look at the bottom of the freezer in the back below the metal panel. Usually there are slots above it. There will be a hole at the bottom of a shallow rectangular funnel. Turn off the fridge and put your food in a cooler. Pour some warm clorox water in the hole, a fairly strong solution. It should eat out the mold that grows in the base of this non refrigerated line. If something like a frozen pea got in the line you might have to use a pipe cleaner to snake it out. Good luck with this, Jeff

Kenmore

sounds like your freezer isn't freezing lift up the wire arm on the ice maker to shut it off then put your finger where the ice cubes should be and if the water isn't frozen you may have a cooling problem listen to see if you hear the freezer fan running then look at the bottom of the freezer at the back wall where the vents are and see if they are blocked with frost and reply to me
