When I press the power button Protection is displayed for a brief second and then the unit shuts down. Pressing power button does not do anything afterwards for a while. The fan works through that brief moment when Protection is displayed.
I had a similar problem and managed to fix it. It is not necessarily your case, but in mine the output filter capacitor in the central speaker channel got broken - it had a crack on its body. Replacement of the capacitor fixed the shutdown on protection.
Another question is what damaged the cap. It could be just a bad device or there was something overlooked during development of the home theater. Preliminary I consider placement of the capacitors as a possible problem - they are too close to the output inductors which can get relatively hot even at normal working condition. this is y fix to it. Had the same problem, but now it works perfectly. samsung ht-x30.
Are all the speakers good?? discont all the speakers and see if all the lites come on. Then shut off and start to connect one at a time untill the unit shuts down and then you know you have a shorted speaker. If the same thing happens you probably have a power supply or an output stage falure and this should be serviced by someone who is quilified to work on stereos
Usualy the fan kicks on when it reaches a certin temprature because there is somthing inside overheating. If the fan cant cool it fast enough it trips a breaker and shuts down to protect it from blowing out. Somthing is causing it to over heat and a shorted or blown speaker can do this. Speakers are a just a coil the + goes to one side of the coil and the - goes to the other side. When they are over driven (to much bass or to much volume) the coil can burn apart or ground out and cause a short. These are usualy the first problems. Another thing that happens is the circuit in the speakers blow up and you smell a nasty peanut butter smell. These are the frequency caps blowing up and the electrolyte in them stinks like peanut butter. So if your speakers smell like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich you rocked out a bit to hard. :D

Hi,
Take every single cable out of the unit, now power on the unit.
If the power protection still shows then there is an internal fault, usually a short or a component defect.
If it powers on ok, switch off and insert 1 speaker at a time and power on the unit until the protection mode comes on again, the last speaker you have put in has overloaded it for some reason, also as you are trying each speaker use the volume and bass controls to see if there is an internal overload.
Thats as much as I can offer you until you narrow the fault down to the unit or one of the speakers.

This happens even when no speakers are connected to the unit. I just plug in the unit, press power, and it happens.
i turn on the system it reads protection and then turnd off
i power up the system it displays F61 for a second and then shuts down. it happens even when the speakers are disconected.
receiver plugged in with no speakers the display screen flashes push power protect. how do i fix this problem
