Check the dash once you turn the key to the run position the passlock runs a security check using a set resistance value through the chip in the key. If the security light begins to flash the reading it received was incorrect or it didn't get a reading at all. You can try reseting the value it is looking for by turning the key to start then releasing it. After 10 minutes turn it off then cycle it start again leaving it in on for 10 minutes then back to off then one more time. After the third cycle has completed for a total of 30 minutes. You should be able to turn the key on and start the vehicle. If the light continues to flash their is a problem with the chip in the key or the connections within the ignition its self. Both are common but a Pass Lock Relearn as described above will usually adapt to the poor connection values. Hope this helps.

2004 buick rendezvous sometimes won't start. clicks but won't turn over. replaced starter, battery, and ignition switch. what now??

We just went through this with our 2003 Rendevous. Clicking like crazy but wouldn't start. Replaced the starter but still doing the same thing. Our next step was going to be replace the battery (which tested well) and the ignition assembly. Out of frustration, I hit the top of the hood and the headlights came on!! Further investigaton proved that the problem was a corroded ground wire on the battery. Hope this helps

It sounds like you have a bad actuator. This is attached to the starter and has a solonoid that pushes the starter motor gears into the engine gear. If the solonoid is faulty this may happen. Also check alignment of the same.

I can't get my land rover discovery 1999 to start!I go to turn it over and it acts like it wants to start but it won't.I have replaced the fuel filter, the fuel pump, put a new battery in it,and a start

Sounds like a dead short between the starter and the battery. Check the cables under the hood for anything that has rubbed through.

However, it is more likely to be the control line to the solenoid that is shorting out. Trace that line from the solenoid up to the firewall first, than drop the panel under the steering wheel and look there. Use a multimeter set to ohms with one probe on a solid part of the frame and the other probe to the solenoid wire - there should NOT be any reading. If there is, the wire is earthing out

Chevy silverado 1500 305 engine would not start. Replaced starter & starter would not disengage

smaller of the 2 wires is on the wrong terminal,or the starter needs a shim to move it away from the ring gear,if it is too close it won't come out.
