Light and blower speeds malfunctioning

The vent hood has two problems. First, the mid-range blower speed and indicator light quit working. If the high speed setting is turned on, the mid-range speed indicator light works.
Second, the hood light works intermittently. Sometimes the light will not work at all. Other times, the light will come on when the hood is slid out, but the on/off button does not operate the light at all.
My neighbor, who worked in the electronics field for years, tested the touch panel and was not able to find any problems with it. He was testing the continuity of the push buttons and the connector where the wiring harness connects to it. No problems were found. He believes the problem is in the microcomputer board.

Hi mutt750,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

I agree. It sounds like your neighbor is doing well. I would replace the control board too. Sounds like a nice guy. Time to invite him over for a bbq?

Pontiac g6 2006 heater/ac fan doesnt work on #3 speed setting, fan made squealing bearing noise for a while but quit, also inside/outsied air vent switch vent makes clicking noise when set to outside air

you will need to replace the blower motor as it has probably siezed going by the squealing noise you say you heard.i`m assuming this has more than 3 speeds for the fan motor.if it wasn`t working on one speed then you probably have a bad blower motor resistor that will need to be replaced as well so you will have all fan speeds.this is located in the air duct housing near the blower motor and will have about 6 wires on it.some of these on under the hood on the firewall anywhere from the passenger side to the center of the firewall.not sure about the vent switch.if the vent switch is moving the doors and you hear a clicking then you may have a vent door problem that the door pivot is worn.

Blower motor doesn't pump well even the fan switch on high

sounds like blower bearings are dried out and will eventually lock up the blower..sometimes you can spray wd40 in the blower bearings and it will work fine for a while.. also check vacuum controls to the baffle dors in the ductwork..may have some leaks there.. should hear a slight hissing if really bad..repost findings

I have a Best K41-1 and my variable speed on the blower does not work. It only works on high speed when slid into that position. What could be the problem?

I have the same problem (again) but with the lights not working also so something else is going on. The usual fix for the fan on high issue is to replace the switch assembly (SB06105117). It's an $80 part. This worked for me the first time it happened. If you are handy then it's a 1/2 hour project - turn the power off at the breaker.

I have 2001 Volvo S80 and the heater and AC comes on for a minute or two and then shuts off. The dealer said it was the blower mower burned out. How can that be if it works now and then?

Assuming that the dealer is correct and isolated the problem down to the blow motor...
it IS possible for the motor to work intermittently due to heat buildup. Malfunctions due to heat will call the motor to run fine for a bit, and then quit when the motor reaches a high enough temperature to cause a malfunction. It would then quit working until it cooled back down, and repeat the process.

Whether is it just dead, or it is intermittently dead, for all intensive purposes, the motor is no longer usable and needs to be replaced with a new unit.

The fan knob on the climate control panel only operates on the high range and will not even turn the a/c on in low or medium. when in high range the a/c unit overall seems to be performing like normal...

Had the identical problem in my Grand Cherokee... you need a new relay switch... mine was located under the dash on the passenger side and was ceramic -- when they go bad they only allow the climate control system to work on high speed.

2004 mazda mpv- rear heater fan only works on high

My bet is that there's a relay at fault... but first: have you checked the fuses? the high blower speed draws a lot of power, so sometimes it's fused separately from the other speeds. This means that your fuse for the slow blower speeds could be blown. Also, because theblower draws so much power, you'd need a HUGE switch to switch it directly, so they use a low-power switch inside the car, and a relay (usually under the hood, but sometimes under a seat (check your owner's manual) to do the heavy work. These are often split the same way, with the high blower on one, and the slow on the other. These are the things that are easier to check, but it could just be that the switch is bad. Mid 90s Land rovers and Range Rovers have the same problem, where the only blower speed that works is HIGH, making the cabin sound like a wind tunnel... Just the switch. The switch can be a pain to replace if you do it yourself, but do check the fuses first, and see if you can find the relays. if the fuses are okay, and you find the relays, try to find the one that's for the fan and swap it out, it shouldn't be more than 3-4 dollars from an auto parts store, just bring in the old one to match it, or swap it for another relay that's nearby and has the same pins. If the swap works, just remember to get another relay, because the one you "borrow" from another circuit could be the door locks or the headlights or something else important....

BABT83.2AL Canopy Rangehood The fan/suction is not working. A slight straining noise is heard. The light is working as is the display panel.

These units have a history of fan failure due to inferior 220 volt Italian fan.

I have just had fan fail and retrofitted a ebmpapst blower fan model D2E146HT6702 which is readily available in Aus for around $120.

The fan speed control is by inverter variable output so you don't use all the speed select wires that this fan has. Connect the Red wire on the range hood to the Black on the motor (High speed winding) and the Black on the range hood to the Blue on the motor (Neutral) and the earth to the earth (Green).

Disconnect and toss the cap in the white enclosure under the PC board enclosure (the new fan has the cap on board). Don't know how easy to fit in the range hood as mine is in an acoustic fan housing in the roof (makes it wisper quiet when running)
