There are a couple of possibilities. First is a bruise on the LCD display itself, and is typically not repairable. This is usually caused by hitting the display, but not hard enough to crack it. Second is that the backlight may need to be replaced as the fluorescent tube has a dark spot on it or the LED backlight has a few of the LEDs defective.

Leaving black residue (spots) on clothing
Black spots usually come from the agitator shaft bearing seal which will, when worn, allow oil from the transmission to seep into the wash. Replace the seal, and maybe the upper bearing if the shaft itself will move visibly from side to side in various directions. If the machine is still under warranty, take advantage. Hope this helps!

I have a canon pc 300 that makes black spots every inch on the right side of the paper about 3 inches from the edge...if I lighten up the slider you can barely see the spots, but the writing is also...
You can actually turn the drum by hand and look for the spot. If not there a glob of toner on the upper fuser roller would give you the same effect.

Big grey/black spot
Is it a fuzzy spot or an actual hard edged black spot?LCD televisions can have a loss of pixel display- most very small. Was the TV hit with something or dropped against something (the screen)?

OR Try this first:
Black box appears on the screen
 • Closed-captioning might be on. Check the Analog or Digital Caption option in the Setup menu.
