Why would my older Maytag Neptune Electric dryer suddenly quit? Interior light comes on when door opened, but when I press start, it shudders but doesn't tumble or start?

if thermal fuse ok you may have a problem with your interface board. Check thermal cut out, door switch and thermal fuse before suspecting board. Obviously need model to give you more accurate info.

Wed5100v wont run

First, check the door switch to see that it is working. With the door open, push the switch and see if the light goes out. If it doesn't, replace the switch. Here is that part to order.
If the switch is good, then you need to replace the thermal fuse. Here is that part to order.

Neptune dryer has power but will not spin.I hear a faint click comming from the left side. model#MDE9700AYM

An electric Neptune clothes dryer, like most electric clothes dryers, has two circuit breakers: one for the drum and another for the heating element. Both breakers need to be in the "on" position for it to run properly. Go to your main circuit box. Reset both of the dryer's circuit breakers to the "on" position. If one of the breakers trips again, there's a problem with the dryer component that it operates. Contact a dryer repair technician to evaluate the machine's condition.
The lid switch is a small latch located on the interior of the door frame on your Neptune clothes dryer. It keeps the door securely shut when the dryer's on to prevent injury should you open the door and reach inside while it's turning. If the lid switch becomes damaged, the dryer won't turn on even though its lights might work. Run your finger over the lid switch and listen for a clicking sound. If you don't hear a sound when the latch is compressed, it's faulty and needs to be swapped out.

The thermal cut-off is a heat-sensitive safety feature on a Neptune clothes dryer that shuts off the heating element if the dryer overheats. After it activates, it can't be reset; you must replace it. Until it's replaced, your dryer might only partially function, so while its lights might turn on, the dryer might not spin or heat. Don't exchange an old thermal cut-off for a new one until you first determine what promoted it to trip, otherwise your dryer likely will overheat again.

MAytag dryer will not run. Has Power but will not start. No sensing light.

Was your dryer taking a long time to dry clothes? If so you should first check your vent and then suspect your dryer thermal cutoff.
Or,
this problem could be your door latch switch. Is your door more difficult to open, OR, sometimes pops open / or opens really easy? Then your door latch switch could be bad.

Husband drying sneakers in dryer - dryer stopped will not restart. touch pad lights up normally but when you press start - it wont

Hi,
check fllowing -
Door switch
If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Good luck.....

Neptune Dryer

My maytag neptune dryer quit heating, after my wife changed the temp setting on the console from regular, to extra low drying temperature. The heating element reads 10.5 ohms. The thermal cutoff reads 0.02 ohms. The hi-limit thermo reads 0.02 ohms. The power coming into the dryer is 240 volts. What can I check or need to replace.
