I think you loaded Windows 7 over top of
the Toshiba version of Windows XP. I think you did it like I would have done - run out - get the upgrade - install it fast - heck with the directions.
I think Toshiba inserted a
special little routine in their XP version that allows the "Fn" key to operate.
Most computers do not have the special Fn key so there is little need for Microsoft to support the key AND, who is to say that Toshiba has to use the same implementation of the Fn key as other builders? I'm saying there is probably no Microsoft standard for the implementation of this key.
Having said that, I believe you erased the files necessary to run the Fn key when you upgraded to Windows 7.
