We have a Kenmore Elite. the ice maker had a piece of ice lodge that did not fully come out. After 24 hours we notice the ice maker was not working. We opened the door noticed the piece of ice and removed it. It has been 3 hours or so and the ice maker has not started working. Wondering if there is a reset button that we need to start the ice maker up again. We have shut off the ice maker for about 30 minutes and then we turned it back on. Any suggustions would be helpful Thank you, Janet

When you push the ice dispensing lever, you should be able to hear the micro-switch clicking. If no click, the switch is faulty. The auger motor which is activated by the lever could also be faulty. This is the motor that causes the auger in the ice bucket to rotate one way for crushed ice and the other way for cubes. The auger could also be jammed. Try switching between crushed and cubes to unjam the auger. Empty the ice bucket and start again.

How to remove the speaker from a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator. 
Our Kenmore Elite fridge has been beeping since we bought our house 9 months ago. There's nothing apparently wrong with it, the filters have been replaced etc. Sears said it would be a minimum of $300 to replace the electric panel (and my thought was that whatever is causing it could happen again!). We were ready to buy a new fridge.
Tools:  thin spatula or hand held flat razor (for scraping paint) flat screwdriver  soldering iron
I pried open the water dispenser with a razor thin spatula (i began with just my hands). the electronics then turned off. When the dispenser came completely off an electronic board dangled down. 
On the board is the word 'buzzer' with two soldered points, underneath was a round black object, obviously the speaker. My husband and decided that if we pried the speaker off with just a screw driver, it may break the whole board. So we got out the soldering iron and one at a time, heated both soldering points labeled "buzzer." As each heated we used the screwdriver to pry the speaker off the board. 
The speaker gently slipped off the board into our hands. We placed the board back in its place and snapped the water dispenser cover back into place. The whole thing took 2 minutes. The electronic lights all came back on the dispenser. Everything works perfectly. There's one less beep in our house!

Most likely a problem with the main ice making unit itself. I bought mine at ebay for $49 including shipping. Very simple to replace. You just swap the wiring harness and bottom plate. Takes about 20 minutes to do.
Make sure you do the IR led test. If you think you IR sender and receiver are bad to, $57 on ebay for the set. Most likely not your water solenoid in the lower back of frig (it gets the signal to turn on from the receiver module of the IR board.
Probably not your water filter (cuz the front water dispenser still probably works right?)
And probably not a clogged or frozen line.

On a similar note I have the unit with the control boards in the side. The RH (LH when looking at the front of the unit) board appears to be just just an LED module. Is this LED emit in visible light or in IR? There is no light visible even when holding the door light switch shut.
