Smart move. The blade assembly is almost frozen and the motor does not have enough torque.. You need to remove the blade assembly and completely clean out the bearing and reassemble after the Mr. clean operation. A lite dab of oil is also called for.

It looks like you line up the threads, place the base on, and twist to tighten.

Yeah, the blades probably need to be replaced. The replacement blade assemblies for most models can be ordered directly from Oster - their phone # is 1-800-334-0759 - you have to go through an elaborate menu tree to get to the right place.

Try "The Gourmet Depot" website or search "small appliance parts" and find a site that carries the Oster blender part. You will need the model # of the blender.

Hello,
What i have done, with mine that seems to work, is i soak it in some real warm water, not scorching hot just good hot tap water. Soak it for a bit, then try it as it will soften it and sometimes that helps to get it unscrewed. Give that a try and see if that works for you. Also of course make sure you are turning it counter clock wise to unscrew. Thanks Mike from Fixya.
