I do not like to disagree with solutions but this one needs work. You do not need to get the trial version of Norton. There are free antivirus and antispam software that are just as good if not better than the trial version of Norton.

You do have to get these from a working, noninfected computer.

First, get a copy of malware bytes. It is free. Download it to a flashdrive or copy it to a CD. Start you computer in Safemode, install MalWare Bytes. and run it. Then restart you computer normal and run it again.

Second, get a copy of AdAware from lavasoft.com. Also free. Install, get updates, run a scan.

Third, get a copy of AVG antivirus. There is a free version of this also.

I have used these three software items many times in my business with success every time. Also, I have never had any problems at home using these.

Hello, you do have a situation on your hand there your system is infected with a virus, but no need to fret, here is what you need to do,first download a trial version of Norton 360 from Symantec site, not on the infected PC please, install on a separate system slave your Hard Disc Drive to the system and scan to rid your drive of the infection or copy the Norton into a flash pen, connect to your system, hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to activate the Task manager, run new task, click browse select the flash pen, then the norton antivirus to install.when done, hit the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys again, select new task, browse, local disk C:\,program files, norton folder, double click on the norton icon, select ok an scan entire system.

I reinstalled windows xp on my dell latitude D400 notebook now my display settings are 640 x 480 pixels and I cannot change it I have tried to download drivers from the dell support website but cannot...

You have to be absolutely sure you are downloading the correct display drivers for your system. The dell installers are very picky.
There are 2 video drivers here is the link.

please refer the following link which will restore all the setting for your CD drive. If this doesn't work then reply back and we will let you know the next step that you need to follow. Don't forget to reboot your computer once this is done. It will ask you to save a file on your PC. Once saved run it. it will ask you to add file to the registry. Please do so
