Tip for 2008 Craftsman lawn tractor that runs for about 30 minutes then starts to cut out and dies, and will not restart. These tractors have a defective gas cap that will not vent. 2 year old craftsman 42" deck tractor runs fine for 15 minutes then sputters and dies. Will start, run 2-3 minutes, die again. Leave sit will run for 20 minutes.

if it restarts immediately, check the vent in the gas cap for restriction. also, the solenoid on the bottom of the carburetor may be sticking or getting weak. if you have to let it sit for awhile before it retarts, the ignition module may be breaking down when it heats up. i'd bet on the gas cap or solenoid though
