How to increase the Garage Door Remote Control Weak Signal

My remote controls to my garage door have been a problem especially those that come with the car mirror. I have tried extending the antenna and change new batteries, but it is still bad. I have finally found a solution. It is an ugly one but it WORKS!!

I bought that aluminium sheet from a Chinese Grocery Store. It was supposed to be put behind the cooking stove and prevent oil from spilling on to the wall. It only costed me $4.

I tried placing at different positions and found it best, making it curved and covered all the way down to the length of the antenna. Much like a Satellite Disc. And it works amazing well.

Why do I have no range when opening garage door with remote?

The first step would be to try a new battery in the remote. If you have done that check the aerial pigtail on the motor unit to see it is extended straight. Next go through the relearning procedure to reteach the receiver what is the frequency from the remote.

2012 hyundai tucson setting the garage door opener that is located in rear view mirror

Thanks filter4991;
1. Press and hold button on car's rearview mirror
2. Press and hold button on garage door opener's remote control.
3. Light on Rearview mirror will flash rapidly.
4. Release both buttons.
5. Locate learning button on garage door opener (generally this can be found by tracing the antennae to where it is attached to the unit.)
6. Press and release "Learning button"
7. Press and release rearview mirror button repeatedly until garage door opens/closes but it should work the first or second time.

Worked on Genie Intellicode and Hyundai Tuscon

the remotes will not work more than 5 feet from main unitis there anyway to turn up the signal from the main unit

No you cant change signal strength - try changing the frequency of the remotes you might be getting too much interference from other wireless devices in area. also make sure antenna on base (wire hanging out connected to nothing on one side) is fully extended and not hidden inside or behind anything.
Hope that helps

My remotes will not activate the garage door opener from anywhere but inside the garage. Worked fine the first month then stopped

Have you tried changing the batteries in the remotes? The other explanation is that the antenna in the receiver in the garage needs re-siting or extending.
