Tip & How-To about Baby Gear
Transitioning your child from their cribs to a toddler bed
can sometimes be a daunting task for parents.
I have gone through this phase 4 times now and have developed a way that
by the fourth child worked like a charm; so I thought I would share my methods.
•
In the earlier stages leading up to transition
time, I recommend introducing the subject with your child by pointing out older
siblings/cousins who use "big kid" beds.
Make your child excited about the idea of having their own big bed.
•
Try to place the toddler bed in the same place
where your childs crib was, creating a further sense of familiarity and
comfort.
•
Don't prolong the inevitable - take the crib
away and immediately. Out of sight out
of mind.
•
Use the same bedding
•
If you are excited about the new toddler bed,
most likely your child will be too
Lastly, whatever you do, do not change your childs regular bedtime routine. I always bathe my children before bed and then read to them. Try to keep the same routine in place and hopefully your child will respond to the change in bed type a little easier.
