Tip & How-To about Baby Gear

How to choose a safe high chair

Perhaps the most important feature in a high chair is its' safety. Safety must be put first when buying this type of chair. Foremost, you should make sure the chair has a five-point safety harness or another type of safety that doesn't allow the baby to stand up from the chair or slip down from it. Next, make sure that the high chair is constructed appropriately and does not make any weird noises. Make sure it doesn't get out of position or collapses when there's pressure on it. After that, make sure that the moving parts cannot harm the baby in anyway. Finally, check the edges of the chair to see if there are any sharp points that could harm the child. Clearly, high chairs must be picked carefully the safety must be put first. Last thing you want to is an unnecessary injury to your baby just because of a poorly made high chair.

Why should I get my son a booster seat? Is it not ok to transition from a high chair to a regular table chair?

Booster seats offer several great advantages. First and foremost is safety. Most booster seats are designed with a safety belt securing both your child to the seat and the seat to the chair. I also believe that booster seats are a great learning tool. They will help teach your child how to sit properly at a table with much more freedom than a highchair and less accidents than an "adult" chair.

Should I get a wooden or a plastic chair?

It depends on your preferences. If you are goingfor the plastic one, you have to make sure it meets all the safety needs, especially if it's a folded chair.
