1995 Chevy 3500 pickup 4x4 454 engine, auto

Sounds like the computer is in limp home mode.I realize you can not hook a scanner up on a 95 but you can use a paper clip to read the blinking code on the engine light. This get hard to explain here but you tube will have a video on how to read it.

2000 s-10 extreme abs code 0265 and brake comes on and goes off

Before going into complex or expensive repair or troubleshooting, check the wiring connectors for the ABS sensors. The connector is usually on or near the wheel backing plate. These this can loosen, corrode, and just plain get crudded up. Disconnect the wire and clean to connection. If that works - good on ya; if not I'd look to the relay as the issue. It has internal contacts that can corrode from arcing during use. They can't generally be repaired and relay replacement is advised.

1997 Chevrolet 2500 PU Temp gauge shows hot but no leaks and engine does not seem to be overheating

Be sure the fan belt is not slipping and if it is tight then you might want to change the temp. sw. also check the wire to the temp sw. and make sure it is not shorting out on the engine. In addition, the gauge maybe miss reading but it don't sound likely from your post.

95 chevy 5.7 4x4 has new oil tune up engine pinging when cold worse when hot

sounds like a spark knock. I would set the timing on the engine and if it is ok try some higher octane fuel in the engine or mix some low and high octane gas about 50/50 and see if that helps the condition. If not move the engine timing ahead about 5 degrees. You don't want to move it to far or else the engine will be hard to turn over and start.

Where is knock sensor location

Not sure what year of Chev you are asking about but up to 1999 the knock sensor was in the water drain hole in the side of the engine block.

How to set timing for 97 chevy 7.4 454ss vin j ?

yuo need to look at the passenger side firewall and look for a black cover box against the forewall with 3 black long lug nuts looking things there plastic as well remove them and you will find wire connector if not remove the negative battery cable from the post on the battery and do it this way now to do this properly here are my steps ! My Name is Bobby im A Vo-Tec tech mechanic from NewYork . I have great news for you so please listen up just incase you still can not fire up your engine i will give you these simple instruction that no one will give to you out there ok . First reset your timing with number one piston all the way up at top dead center on the compression stroke by taking out the number one spark plug and take a 1/4 inch peace of stick with a plastic bag over it and wrapped real tight and stick it into the plug hole where its snuged fit in to the spark plug hole now using your ignition key to click the engine over little by little until you hear a blast pop sound that will be the stick with the plastic popping out of the # 1 cyclinder spark plug hole now your engine is at top dead center on the compression stroke now look down at your harmonic balancer the crank damper with the groved straight line back the engine crank counter clock wise till that line faces #0 on the timing marks plate above it leave it at 0 degrees now take your distributor cap off and see to make sure the the rotor is facing # 1 cyclinder if not take the negative by CutThePrice" style="font-size: 13px; color: rgb(22, 122, 198); left: auto; opacity: 1; top: auto; font-family: Roboto, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 17px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 3px !important; padding: 0px !important; border: 0px !important; box-sizing: border-box !important; bottom: auto !important; clear: none !important; display: inline-block !important; float: none !important; height: auto !important; max-height: none !important; max-width: none !important; min-height: 0px !important; min-width: 0px !important; overflow: visible !important; position: static !important; right: auto !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; -webkit-transform: none !important; transform: none !important; vertical-align: baseline !important; visibility: visible !important; width: auto !important; word-wrap: break-word !important; zoom: 1 !important; z-index: auto !important; font-weight: 700 !important; background-image: initial !important; background-attachment: initial !important; background-size: initial !important; background-origin: initial !important; background-clip: initial !important; background-position: 0px 0px !important; background-repeat: initial !important;">BATTERY CABLE off the battery and unplug the grey and white wire located on the firewall under the plastic cover it will be a single grey and black or white striped wire unplug that connector take distrubtor completely out of engine and reset it in so the thumb button rotor is facing # 1 cylinder ok now put your bolt back in and tight it just snugged for now until later on as you will have to rotated later now put your cap back on and look at the cap where you tighten the 2 screws down the screw in the front looking at that and at the top of the cap where the plug wires go count 4 plug inputs counter clock wise and start # 1 spark plug wire from there going clock wise fireing order now thats it now before hooking the negative battery cable back up make sure your number one spark plug is back in place with the wire on it ok now turn your head light switch on and off 5 - 7 times and now hook up negative battery cable back on it post and hook up the advance grey and black or white striped wire and now fire up your engine still no start turn the distributor clock wise till it starts and now your set have a nice day and dont forget to tighten the distributor down once you have it set to its right idle ok have a nice day !

My 350 cid when cold starts as should, but once hot the starter drags like battery is dead, could this be starter, heat related, battery or connections, James

If these episodes run the battery down enough that a jump is required after cool down. I would say you have a bad cell in the battery. Providing that your charging the battery properly. You can place a volt meter on the battery with the engine running to see if your charging system is working. You should get around 14 VDC and it should stay above 13 VDC when you turn things on (heater blower, headlights etc) If it's low or dropping below 13VDC you may have dirty battery connections or a bad alternator. If your battery is holding good and you do NOT require a jump after cool down, I would say that the starter is failing, this is more common. The heat from the engine makes the starters bearings (bushings) tighter and it looses a lot of pep. But a good battery will recover from the starting attempts and function normally when the starter cools off. It is also possible that you have BOTH problems. Where as one problems has caused the other for example, A weak battery can cause the starter motor to pull more current causing damage to the starters armature windings over time. OR the starter got tight and finished off an already old / borderline battery. A good rule of thumb..... IF your battery is 4 or more years old, you may want to start there, because the battery is near the end of its intended live anyhow. installing a new one will do one or more of the following..... A) solve the problem B) was preventative maintenance to keep you from being stranded in the next year or so. (that IS what old batteries do) C) it was the least expensive and the most likely of the 2 solutions If you decide to have the battery checked or load tested, keep in mind that they sell batteries for a living. My story.... I had a Buick that did that with a new battery. The battery chain that sold me that battery, load tested it and said that the battery was OK.and that it MUST be the car. They didn't want to admit it was defective and give me a new one. After awhile, I got sick of having to jump it from time to time and just got a new battery at Pepboys and changed it. LIKE NIGHT AND DAY!!
