CAN A IGNITION SWITCH CAUSE

Yes it can. There is a thick WHITE colored wire, that needs to power up as a true ignition wire or it will not activate the electrical portion of your transmission. This is a common known problem especially with dealing with remote starters in these vehicles.

I left my key in the ignition over night i charged

you can sometimes 'unremember' your key. sometimes if you have too many keys on your key chain the computer can see your key, you should try the key alone first, if this still doen't work, you can try and re program your key, there should be instructions way better than i can give here in the manual. other wise you might have to take it to a dealer.

My 99 yukon will run fine some days and sometimes

Plugged fuel filter, or faulty fuel pressure regulator. Last possibility would be bad pump but since it does run, it I would first change fuel filter, then regulator if necessary

Gmc yukon shuts down after driving for a long time

The first thing you should do is to locate the oil pressure switch/sending unit.

This switch serves two functions.

1) provide oil pressure reading

2) disable the fuel pump relay in event of oil pressure loss.

===

When this switch is failing to provide the correct pressure to the ECU. The wiring harness can overheat and eventually create a short.

ECM1 fuse blow is because the harness is grounding/shorting.

===

DO NOT drive the truck until you change the oil pressure switch.

After you change the switch,you should spend sometime to inspect the wiring between the fuel pump relay,ECU and fuel pump.

Please post up day on the comment window/page.

I will follow up on it later.

Good luck.

My 1997 gmc yukon won't

I know this problem. First, if you have not replaced the starter and solonoid within the last 150,000 miles then now is the time. That will solve your problem. But if your like me and your a cheapskate then this is what you do. Go to autoparts store and get a set of brushes for your starter motor, $5.00. Pull the starter and disassembly the motor, replace the brushes, etc. Disassemble the solonoid and inspect the points of contact where electrical continuity is essential. Remember 12 volt starter power is always hot at the starter. When you turn the key your just powering the solonoid coil which pulls the starter gear to the flywheel. This process also completes the circuit to the starter motor. When your car is hot, the expansion due to change in temperature will cause loss in continuity within the solonoid if parts are significant worn. Hope this helps

The ignition switch is locked

Try turning the stearing wheel and turn the key. This usually happens when your vehicle is sitting or parked in awkward position.

Immobilizer unit

if you feel you have the technical ability and tools like standard socket set wire crimpers and crimp terminal you may be able to do it ... the unit is most likely installed under the dashboard by the steering column ... where the wires are .... you'll have to reconnect the wire(s) that were interrupted and disconnect two more and tape up any bare wires it all depends how or what materials the installer used. On the Yukon there will be a wire from the Immobilizer to the Thick Red wire of the Yukon ... and a wire connected to the thick pink wire of the Yukon .... and there will be 2 wires from the Immobilizer to an either thick yellow or thick purple wire that was cut ... remove those two wires from the immobilizer and reattach that wire with a Yellow or blue barrel crimp whichever fits best

Igniton switch removal from a 1997 GMC Jimmy

you can use a very small socket on those... I have done it several times, I believe it needs to be a 4.5 -6mm socket... I know this works. Just take a handful of your small sockets and try them one by one to see which one fits and grabs it.
