There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!
How to reset fuel pump
As long as you have power to the fuel pump there is no way to reset it except to change it.
1 clyinder misfiring
It could be one or both of the items you discussed. In addition, did you change the rotor when you changed the cap. If the cylinders have individual coils the coil could be weak as well.
Can a bad back up switch blow fuse ever time I put in reverse its a 5 speed manual
Yes, it could. Also,
If I had the problem, here is how I would proceeded.
1) Replace fuse.
2) Have someone go to the rear of the vehicle and observe the back-up lights whilst you start the vehicle and put it in reverse. Question. Did the back up lights come on? Were they bright and the same brightness each?
Did either one help you know the problem?
3) Remove the back up light bulbs and go through the same drill with the "start the car & shift to reverse".
4) If the fuse does not blow, suspect a short in the light bulb socket.
5) If the back up fuse blows again, suspect a short in the wiring going to the socket. ( Perhaps a pinched wire from a fender-bender?)
God bless your efforts.
Truck wont turn over but might after several tries
Sounds like the solenoid is not engaging. I would pull the starter and change the solenoid on the top of the starter. Be sure to disconnect the battery cable before working to remove the starter. Hope this helps.
No power to anything when hooking up battary cables
To start you need to check and make sure the battery is good and fully charged. Then you need to clean the battery cable and make sure there is no oil or grim around the bolt if it is a side mounted battery. If the battery has the post on the top then you need to clean the battery post and the take a knife and scrap the inside of the cables. Make sure the heads on the cables you are attaching to the battery doesn't have rotted or broken wires an be sure your ground wire at the frame is clean.
How to get to the freeze plug on a 94 chevy 350 truck?
There may be a plug puller out there but if so I am not aware of it. I suggest you take a sharp punch and drive it through the center of the plug and pry it out or you might be able to catch an inside edge and then pry it out. Be careful not to score the engine block wall where the new plug will go or else the new plug will leak.
Blower comes on then stops running
You may need to replace the fan motor but before you do check and make sure you don't have a loose wire going to the fan motor. You might be loosing power to the fan motor. Is the fan motor making noise before it stops. Chev are famous for having the bearing on the fan motor going out and the fan will clatter against the fan motor housing. If you need to change the motor just remove the wire to the motor and pull the beauty cover off then you can remove the holding screws and put your new motor in. Be sure to remove the battery cable to ensure you don't short something out during the process and burn the wiring.
Why does my truck keep showing code po304?
A code P0304 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Faulty spark plug or wire Faulty coil (pack) Faulty oxygen sensor(s) Faulty fuel injector Burned exhaust valve Faulty catalytic converter(s) Running out of fuel Poor compression Defective computer
If there are. no symptoms, reset code and see if it comes back
