The internal battery is a 12 gellcell battery . Just take out all the screws in the case and match the old battery at Radio Shack

Yup the battery needs to be changed.

You should have let the jump start unit be connected to the car's battery for a few minutes before trying to start it. Cables are replaceable. You probably trashed the battery inside the jump starter but it can be replaced easily.

It probably doesn't have enough current capacity to charge the battery inside the jump start. get a 12 v 1 amp or greater AC adapter

The battery inside is easily replaceable Just open it take out the battery and get a new one from Radio Shack .
