I have a vector 300amp that will not charge or hold a charge. This is the first time i needed a jump start my car and did not work! It was fully charge. It must be a Manufacturer defect! What to do? You

The FIRST question to answer is, how old is it? If you have had it, unused, for much more than a year, then you shouldn't expect it to take and hold a charge, unless it's got an advanced battery system installed that is. Most of these are produced 'down to a price', not 'up to a standard' and are equipped with lead-acid batteries. As many will know, lead-acid batteries soon lose their ability to take and hold charges unless they're put into immediate and regular use. However, if yours is inside a year old, then you might just have some come-back. Make sure to read the instruction book. You MAY find it says 'charge it immediately ... etc!

Where can I get replacement parts for a Vector portable Battery Jump Starter?

Good clamps are available from NAPA, Autozone, O'Reilly's, Pep Boys, Car Quest, and other suppliers. Check to see if the existing wire terminates in a crimped lug. If not you need to look at the new clamps to see whether they are designed for attaching directly to the wire strands or if they require the wires to be gathered and crimped into a lug to go under a single screw. Fasteners to clamp large wire under a screw are similar to photo here.

After plugging charger into wall socket should the switch be on or off

It doesn't matter since the charging circuit for the internal battery does not go thru the switch.

Need battery charger for jump start vec021stc

If your model jump starts 12v batteries, it likely will be the same as this generic replacement charger on Amazon. http://amzn.com/B009DF2J52 I replaced mine and the open circuit (no load) voltage of the charger is from 18-19 volts. But it charged perfectly.

I own a Vector Industrial Series 900 to jumpstart system and power. When we recently moved the cord was lost and now I am in need of buying the new cord. Is this availale?

I advise caution when using a standard battery charger to charge a jumpstarter via the main leads. Firstly if there is polarity protection it probably won't work and secondly the heart of the jumpstarter is a sealed lead acid battery which does not usually tolerate high charge currents without shortening the life of the battery. This type of battery needs either the low charge current supplied by the original charger or similar or a sophisticated regulated charger. If using a standard charger avoid using a high performance type and use only the type that provides a trickle charge.

I have a Vector VEC1095A. Can't get the Battery Type to change to the type battery being charged.

Hi Billy. That is a very nice unit. Here is a link to the operator manual for it: http://documents.dewalt.com/documents/English/Instruction%20Manual/Vector/VEC1095A.pdf I would suggest that you unplug the charger completely and try again. If no go, try again with another battery. If that doesn't work then it sounds like the charger has malfunctioned. Is it still under warranty? If it won't change types, you can get an idea of how it is charging by monitoring the voltage as it charges up a known good battery. Good luck!

Jump and start unit is dead, how do I recharge this

These units have a meter on them that shows if it is full or dead. If it will not charge from an AC wall socket, the unit is probably no good. Check the charger that it comes with to make sure that it doesn't need to be reset. If it has no reset button, you may need to return it for an exchange.

Can i charge a battery not installed in veichle

Yes, it is no different than charging the battery in the vehicle while the vehicle is off, except their may be small drains on the battery while connected in the vehicle (small lights, radio memory, etc), but that shouldn't affect anything.
