Invacare P9000 Xdt Motorized Wheelchair Questions & Answers

Hi DREADFULPCBU
There isn't much to the P9000 joystick and controller. First and formost have your batteries load tested to ensure you have 24 volts dc. That in itself may solve the problem. I would then check each and every wire connection to make sure there is good continuity on all metal connectors. Check the voltage to ensure ther is only 24-27 volts dc. You could also have an over voltage possibly caused by a short somewhere. Has your chair ever gotton wet? If so one of the motors could be shorted out. Test this by taking out the motor brushes (one at a time) .See if it has water or oil on it. If so you may need to replace that motor. If all that is ok then here is where you can send your joystick and controller for repairs. ( I'm not confident that the ones you got from the junk yard are good.

Where can I find the pin out diagrams for a P9000
Chairs with motors that have a rectangular connector are what I am going to describe.
There are two round pins in the center of the motor plug. These two are for the brake coil. Ohm readings should be between 40 and 80 ohms. The motor reading is takin from the contacts on each side of the brake pins. Should ohm between 0.5 and 5 ohms.
Just recovered my stolen chair
It depends on the type of battery, but MOST LIKELY you need type U1, 24v 33 amp (check your owner's manual). Your insurance
may still cover the replacement if you can wait for the process to go
through, otherwise you can purchase them at Batteries Plus or Interstate Batteries.
Good luck!
WHY IS MY CONTOLLER FLASHING ? My power chair
Here is a link with descriptions of the flashing controller lights for
most power wheel chair controllers. This will allow you a fast diagnosis
to save time and money on your repair; it may be as simple as a brake
reset instead of a costly motor replacement! The first page you will see
is especially for Hoverounds, but you might be able to find other
brands if you know the manufacturer of the controller.

Reset of dash lights RE. Potentiometer -
hi John, the tiller display you got on that scooter , if all of the lights are coming on even when the battery power is low sadly is a faulty component, they are cheap to repair and is now a common problem because they quite old ..

Invacare Leo back wheels seizing up and also hard to push without locking in freewheel mode
hi Helen, firstly the scooter will lock up after a couple of metres , that is by design to stop you rolling down a hill etc ..
Now if the scooter is hard to push even in freewheel, means the brake has either decided to seize (lack of use , been in storage ) or has become damage. The mechanism for releasing the brake has become damaged . brake removal recommended then try to push the scooter , if it 's okay then its the brake if not , it could be the coupling between the motor and gearbox has failed or the gearbox itself has a issue,.

Are both lights supposed to be green i have 1 red 1 green on my battery for my invacare scooter
Mine is an Invacare M51 Pronto Surestep with an onboard Winsunny battery charger. My charging lights are solid red and green/ yellow. Depending on if it is charging or not. What kind of charger do you have?
I have to replace my charger because it is not working. My green light is staying green while charging even though my joystick is showing my batteries are depleting and I just got new batteries. sigh.
