You're probably going to have to go into manual mode (both focus and exposure) if this is possible with your comera. This will assure there is no delay (whilst the camera tries to figure out the best settings) in the time you press the shutter button and the time the shutter snaps.

I think shutter mechanism is stuck due to any foreign partical in its way to slide back and forth.
Need to apart camera to give close look in shutter mechanism.

If the camera is beyond economical repair due to moisture, it usually means the insides have been corroded beyond measure. This means that corrosion would be all over the main boards in the camera, in the lens and also in the ribbon cables. It would cost less to buy a replacement off of ebay. Sorry for the bad news.

There should be a little switch on your memory card when you pull it out. Slide the switch the opposite direction. The switch is very small and usually on one of the edges/sides. This is similar to how floppy disks had a write protection on them.

it does say 128 in the manual, but I would assume that is because that was the largest available at the time of print.
As long as the card is XD, the storage capacity should not matter.
