i have seen mower die in the first day and have also seen mower still going after 30 years the more you take care of it the more it will take care of you

check the oil if it smells like gas change the needle valve and seat in the carb and change the oil

When you replaced the belt you either got a shorter belt or you have rerouted the belt wrong. You might try and get an original; belt and replace the one on the tractor. Good Luck-David

you mght check to see if the belt has jumped off

check the safety switch on the pedal bypass it to test it with a paper clip

they do float there is grease in the pulley no oil most of the time there is oil in the area its leaking from the lower crank seal

You must have tractor model number to find exact parts. There are many different types of mower decks. If you have your craftsman model number, you can go to www.searspartsdirect.com and find the sears part number. If you don't have your broken belt, to find size, it might be good to buy one from sears. Then when you get the belt see if there is a normal belt number on it to record. If not take your new belt to store to match it up to a power equipment belt. For example Tractor usually stocks a nice supply.
